Boy, posting in different threads, I realize that I feel like I worked in a million places. Since I stopped going to college and started working for a living, I've worked for:
Sammons Communications-old school cable company before the big names took over
I owned my own Arnold Bread route for a couple of years.
My local streets and road department before moving onto the water department.
Schwans
Maier's Bakery-First job I lasted more than 5 years in until I moved to Arizona. While in Arizona...
I worked for a Poore Brothers(potato chip company) distributor but they thought paying me was an inconvenience.
Was given a Sara Lee Fresh route(they had a line of fresh bagels and other baked goods) but I was losing money in that job.
Pro Guard Security-Security company
American Airlines-In reservations. I worked there in both Tucson and Cary, NC where I stayed until moving back to NJ. Spent almost 4 years there.
Canada Dry-As a merchandiser. This was a transitional job until I got the 6 months residency back for NJ so I could start working for...
NJ Department of Corrections-I've been here ever since. Almost 16 years now. Finally settled. Not going anywhere until I retire in 9 1/2 years. I'm a sergeant now so I'm pretty much stuck.

njcardfan - good question. I also feel like I had a million jobs in my life but never thought to count them up. 7 full time plus 2-3 part time through my adult life. Doesn’t seem like that many now that I look at it like this. My average is to stay about 2.5 years in one with a couple outliers.

Technically - one.
First year I started working full-time was in the summer of 1993 - working shutdown at the plant where my father worked. It was only for 5 weeks, mind you.
I did the same in the summer of 1995.
I worked at Burger King on the highway during the summers of 1996 and 1997.
My parents had taken over a music retail business in the summer of 1992. I was working part-time there. We had an opportunity to expand the business in the summer of 1998. My mother took over the new part, while I took over the music retail portion. It wasn't a paying job - just enough to pay for my room & board.
In the summer of 1999, my father noticed an ad in the paper for a Junior Accountant position. So, I went out for it. I ended up getting the job.
And, I have been with the company ever since!

Funny thing about my being in corrections now. Back in 1985, a friend of mine tried to talk me into going into corrections and I scoffed at the idea. If I had gotten into law enforcement back then(which I didn't want to do) it would have been a street cop as my dad and brother were street cops(my dad was a lieutenant at the time). Then, again, when I started dating my wife, she was working at the jail I'm at now as a civilian. My mother in law also worked at the jail and my father in law had just retired as a captain and was still working at his jail as a civilian. My mother in law wanted to get me into the department but, again, I scoffed at the idea. My wife(then girlfriend) and I then moved to Arizona(she regrets that move as if she had stayed she would have been at the jail 22 years this year). Then we moved to North Carolina(this is the period when I worked for American Airlines). When we decided to move back to NJ, I let my inlaws talk me into going to work at the jail as a civilian mostly because of the benefits so I did. Then after a year and a half(and at 40 years of age) I became a uniformed officer. Had I gotten into corrections back when my friend tried to talk me into it, I would have retired 8 years ago.
