Yeah, yeah, we know about Alabama, OSU, Clemson et al. But there are three others
Baylor SMU Appalachian State
What of them?
Baylor 7-0, four games left. A giant roadblock v. Oklahoma, in Waco. Then Texas, again at home. Other two games are WVU and Kansas. SMU. 7-0, four games left, two toughies, at 7-1 Memphis and at 6-1 Navy Appy State. 7-0, four games left. Huge game at South Carolina, tough conference game after at Georgia State (they beat Tennessee in Knoxville)
Can any or all of then run the table? And will this crowd the New Years Bowls? None of them deserve the playoff, even Baylor (Oklahoma will be their first ranked opponent), so don't think I'm saying that. But is it not true that undefeated mid-majors get NYD Bowls, like Western Michigan and Central Florida?

Isn't it that one Group of Five teams get a New Years Day Bowl? It would be interesting to see how they would parse SMU versus Ap State if both ended up being undefeated.
What Matt Rhule has done with the dumpster fire of Baylor post-Art Briles is Coach of the Year worthy.

What Matt Rhule has done with the dumpster fire of Baylor post-Art Briles is Coach of the Year worthy. SMU was a bit of a dumpster fire too. They had a little success when June Jones coached but it was 8 wins and a small bowl. They haven't won more than 8 games since 1984 and the days of "Pony Excess". SMU was a top program, along with Texas, a perennial power in a power conference. Would the SWC stayed afloat if SMU hadn't went under?
