I assume that most people don`t know the exact number of movies they have seen, but approximately how many movies do you think you have seen in your lifetime?
I would say that i have seen about 1500 movies in my lifetime,

- Counting by individual movies = 2,275+ (that's a bare minimum fact. although if you want to nit pick, and exclude movies I did not finish seeing due to boredom, you can subtract roughly 160 movies or so from that 2,275+ total which still easily puts me 2,000+) -Counting re-watches (like adding the individual movies + re-watches) = likely at least 4,000+ (given the facts below it's EASILY 3,500-3,750+ at the bare minimum) as I think it's probably more of a question of how much over 4,000+ I am. but I would guess less than 5,000 movies.
but lets just say it was about 4,000 movies at 1.5 hours each for the average at the minimum, that's a minimum of 250 days of watching movies straight and there is 365 days in a typical year. just shows you how much time is used up. or if we use 2 hours for a average movie, that's about 333 days straight of watching movies which is not far from a entire year burned up seeing nothing but movies.
if you count individual movies I have seen AT MINIMUM approximately 2,275+ total movies given the total movies I have rated on IMDb which should be pretty close to everything I have seen even though I am sure there is a bit more from when I was younger (say roughly pre-teens or thereabouts) that I did not rate which I figure accounting for those I have seen probably no more than about 2,400 or so tops. I am confident these figures are pretty close. with that said... if you count watching any movie, as in first viewings and re-watches, as apart of the topic that 2,275+ figure becomes MUCH more due to re-watches of movies I have seen before as guesstimating this given the facts I know of basically Jan 1st 2012 through Sep 2019 I would say I have seen AT LEAST 3456 movies (i.e. 2,275(first viewings in general) + 1,181(re-watches of all movies I have seen in that time period)) and this is obviously a conservative figure because that's not counting all of the re-watches prior to Jan 1st 2012. so given that info it's pretty safe for me to say I have seen at least 4,000+ movies if you count re-watches since it's not a stretch for me to say I have re-watched a additional 500+ movies prior to Jan 1st 2012 as it was around the year 2003 when the general volume of movies I viewed started to shoot up and you even got re-watches prior to that point etc. but even if we stick to around 2003 through 2011, I would say it's not a stretch to claim I have re-watched at least 500+ movies which I figure makes it easily plausible for me to claim 4,000+ movies in my life counting re-watches. |

I can't even begin to guess how many thousands of movies (including tv) I've watched in over half a century. Many of them are easily forgettable. I rely on Tarantino to remember them all.

I have over 2,000 unique movies rated on IMDB, and there are many I haven't rated, and many I won't rate because I saw them years ago.

I can't even begin to guess how many thousands of movies (including tv) I've watched in over half a century. Many of them are easily forgettable. I rely on Tarantino to remember them all. I’m not counting partially viewed ones. But a safe guesstimate for me is 50 movies per year (theaters and TV) not counting repeats. I’m sure I only saw a handful per year growing up, but it increased once I became an adult and cable TV installed.

I'm pretty sure my total would be much higher. When I was a kid, there were only 3 channels. But 2 of them showed a movie every afternoon and more sometimes at night. When I was 11, we moved to a major metropolitan area where for the first time I saw local channels which existed solely on tv show reruns and 3rd-rate movies. Then when cable iv came along, the number of channels exploded. Today I see at least a few per week (not counting repeats) even if they're some sappy Hallmark movies when there's nothing better on. As I said earlier, they're not all worth remembering.
