Apparently he carries a bullwhip and hunts for treasure. Punches Nazis. The mustache looks kind of dumb.
I don't know, it could be good.

I'm not sure why the popular belief now is that Selleck turned the role down. He was all in, but couldn't work around his schedule or contract on Magnum PI so it didn't work out for him. He'd have likely been fine in the role, but I'm not sure the character or the franchise would have become iconic the way they did.

I find it impossible to believe he was really meant to do it. I know he said he was but its hard to believe since Selleck was an unknown in 1980 and it is unlikely Lucas and Spielberg would pick someone like that for Raiders. Not to mention, Harrison Ford as IJ looks identical to Charlton Heston in Secret of the Incas and the Raiders costume designer said they watched the movie over and over when they were making it.

I wish Selleck would have played Indiana Jones. Then Ford wouldn't have become such an asshole about hating Star Wars and refusing to play Han Solo after Return of the Jedi. Selleck would have been just as good as Harrison for that role.

Well, Tom Selleck got this movie instead, advertised as "hot as lava lover":

Selleck would have been just as good as Harrison for that role. Ford already hated Star Wars. Han was frozen at the end of Empire because they weren't sure he'd come back for a third film.
