It's a much maligned film, but the train chase sequence at the end of Lone Ranger is great

I vaguely remember seeing Von Ryan's Express as a very little kid with my parents in the cinema. The only thing i remember clearly was that because my Dad finished work at a certain time...we always went into the flicks halfway through main movie...watch the whole of the 'b' film [there was always 2]....and then watch the first half of the main film...and then leave at the point we came in to. So I remember Sinatra being shot and killed chasing a train....and then alive again 2 hours later. Very disorientating for a kid. To this day...i have to watch a film from the absoulute beginning....or i cant be bothered.

Hitchcock's three ladies and gents on a train: THE 39 STEPS THE LADY VANISHES NORTH BY NORTHWEST I adore all three of these....particularly North By Northwest. If ever there was a movie that has everything....this is the one.

Here are a few favorites of mine, which I don't think have been mentioned yet... "The Major And The Minor" (1942)Ginger Rogers' character is running short on CASH, and needs to take a trip from the East Coast, on the Pennsylvania Railroad, to the Midwest... And so, she pretends to be 12 years old, in order to get a cheaper train ticket... However, during the trip, "This 12 year old girl" is caught smoking on the Observation Car... She then flees, and meets the Major... "End Of The Line" (1987)After decades of transporting freight by Rail, a company decides to ship it by Air... This decision shuts down a small community's railway shop in Arkansas, which happened to be the town's biggest employer... Two long term employees, borrow a locomotive, and use it to travel to Chicago, to try to change their minds... "Atomic Train" (1999)Basically, this two episode mini-series is about the secret loading of a Nuclear Warhead on to a train, that will become a runaway train, and then the Midwestern, USA, will be threatened with a nuclear detination... Sure, this "movie" has some problems... Most notably, the technical aspects of how trains really work, actually makes the runaway plot impossible... But, if you can get past them, I think the movie is pretty good. Perhaps, that is because, I like Train films? "Unstoppable" (2010)Believe it or not, this runaway train story, is based on Fact! Yes, Look it up! CSX #8888 was a real incident, which became the foundation for the the whole story idea... But, thankfully, much of the destruction and potential threat that Hollywood created for their AVR #777, was mostly fiction.... At least in terms of what really happened... But those "exciting" fictional things made for a great movie.

As I walked down the dark aisle I looked up and saw -
