Phils hire former Reds manager Bryan Price as pitching coach Thought it was going to be fired Yanks Pitching Coach Larry Rothschild being Girardi was just hired as skipper. Apparently Price was Girardi's top choice.

Rhys had such a brutal second half.
Was kind of shocked a respected writer here had thrown out the idea he could be dealt this Winter Meetings Season for pitching help.
He was not long ago considered one of the future cornerstones for years to come.
Maybe with a new manager/hitting coach (Manuel isn't returning in the role after taking over late) - he'll revert back to form.

Rendon's name has been thrown around quite a bit. I'd be content with Moose and then landing a top tier pitcher - like Gerrit Cole. I'd like to see them load up on pitching. Throw offers to Madbum and Cole Hamels too for the middle/backend of the rotation. Has Strasburg opted out yet? I'd be leery of throwing him a ton of coin with his injury history. If you get Gerrit - slide Nola down to #2. Pretty decent 1-2 punch.

And my sources say I'm a shoo in to win the Academy Award for Best Actor this year and be Donald Trump' pick for VP after he dumps Pence.

Phillies claim Robert Stock off of waivers from the Pads.
Tristramshandy or anybody else - ever hear of this guy?
Apparently he's a flame thrower but has had a tough time locating the plate at times and has had some injury issues.

Apparently he's a flame thrower but has had a tough time locating the plate at times and has had some injury issues. Was decent in 2018 but a biceps injury shortened his 2019 season. He's 29 so he'll basically audition for a role in the Phils' bullpen, or get shipped elsewhere. Pure flier move for bullpen depth.

Yanks decline option on Edwin Encarnacion.
He's getting old but still has power.
Be an interesting bat off the bench for the right price.

I don't really get involved in off-season talk about free agents, who goes here, who goes there.
The Red Sox have been one of the most successful organizations in the sport over the last 20 years. I have faith that ownership will put the best team they can construct out there for 2020, they often do.
If Mookie Betts really wants to remain with the team, it will happen. If he wants to see how much others are willing to shell out for him, then that will happen too. I like the guy, I hope he stays, but to me he ain't Larry Bird, Tom Brady, or David Ortiz, so whatever happens, I'll live with it.

Phils decline option on reliever Pat Neshek.
Thank God.
This primadonna carried himself like he was Bruce Sutter and he was a complete nobody.
They'd be short on arms in the pen and he'd state he needed rest and wouldn't pitch - adios fella.

They have to get under the salary cap and its going to be difficult if JD doesn't opt out and Mookie wants the Moon and Saturn to stay. They're already in a 90 million dollar hole because Dumbrowski overpaying the starters. Some money is coming off payroll, Porcello and Pedroia (most likely). But Mookie, Ben in 10D, JBJ and E-Rod will get big arbitration raises. The team got along after Williams and Yaz cleaned out their lockers, they will get along fine if Markus Lynn Betts moves on. With Bogie, Ben in 10D, Devers, Vazquez, that's a core of players you can count on for years. They have to rebuild the farm system too. The one bad thing is, Betts won't bring in the basket full of prospects that fans think he will. Yeah, players like him don't get moved a lot but he's a one year rental no matter where he goes.
Damn Dumbrowski and those dumb contracts. There wan no reason to give Sale a new deal especially when he looked off in 2018. And giving $17,000,000 per to Eovaladi. Yeah he was awesome in '18 but he's had 71 Tommy John surgeries.

Mets hire Carlos Beltran to be their manager. No experience whatsoever, but he could be a good hire.
Or a disaster.

Carlos Beltran not only has no managerial experience and no coaching experience, but the guy barely speaks English. I don't get this hire.
