Poor Chis Plummer. He STILL can't sing. His singing was dubbed by someone named Bill Lee. And Here He Is! Bill Lee at IMDbSure enough … I knew that Peggy Wood was dubbed but never thought it was anyone but Plummer singing, Bill really sounded a lot like a non singing Plummer might have sounded if he had sung.

Yeah, he sure does. I was really surprised when I read that. Good ! I don't feel so bad about missing the dubbed-ness then. I had to look and look at the cast and crew list to find Bill Lee mentioned and still cannot find any other references. Good work detecting !

"Natalie Wood was very pleased her singing voice would not be dubbed, a privilege that she didn't receive when she made West Side Story (1961)and was dubbed by Marni Nixon."

Rod Steiger also dances in this video Steiger was supposed to be replaced for the Dream Ballet, but they could not find a dancer with Steiger’s bulky frame. Steiger moved well so they simplified his movements a bit and used him.

I think the fact that Natalie's voice was not dubbed in GYPSY was a virtue for the film.

Edward Everett Horton, the other man in Ginger and Fred musicals, got the chance, together with a yet unknown Betty Grable, to teach us how to Knock Knees, with the "K" spelled. Grable was all of seventeen at the time, and had been in films for five years already. First time I saw it, I hoped Astaire would do some steps with her after his entrance, but alas. Nevertheless, Horton managed the transitions from carrying the tune to "rhythmic talking" with ease and assurance as well as Rex Harrison ever did, and I enjoy him in this otherwise silly number just as much as I do Betty.

With a little will, one could call it singing and dancing, when the plain rains in Spain: Rex and old trooper Wilfred takes a few dancing steps.

How well would James Cagney be known for his dancing had he not made Yankee Doodle Dandy?

Eduardo Ciannelli was born on the beautiful island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples, which is renowned for its thermal baths. His father, a physician, owned a health spa there and Eduardo briefly followed the same career path and studied medicine at the University of Naples, graduating as a fully qualified doctor. His calling, however, lay elsewhere. He first came to prominence as a leading baritone opera star, performing at La Scala and touring internationally. Then he reinvented himself as a dramatic actor of stage and screen, first in Europe, and, from 1919, in America... marshamae
