Where's Bonds, Clemens and McGwire. This is the Veteran’s Committee. Bonds & Clemens are still on the regular ballot.

Simmons is statically the best eligible catcher not in the HOF and his numbers are better than some of the others already in.
Whitaker got shorted changed by the writers. He should be in the HOF. At the time of his retirement he was easily one of the top 10 2B of all time.
I don’t think Jim Rice belongs in the hall but if you say he does, I don’t see any logical argument keeping Evans out.
If you are a voter who is punishing PED users, I don’t see how you keep Murphy out. He was one of the best sluggers in the game in the 80s.
All that being said, Whitaker would be my only choice of that group

Dwight Evans might be my all-time favorite player, but I never truly believed he was a Hall of Famer.
But then Harold Baines got voted in.....

I'd vote for Marvin Miller. People still cream about free agency but baseball has been more competitive since free agency that it was before.

How Dave Parker, Lou Whitaker & Steve Garvey not in is beyond me. They all played a long time, has championship, in many all-star games, and considered some of the best at their time with great overall stats. At least one of them should be voted. Marvin Miller also should be in for his huge influence in baseball.

Ted Simmons I’m ok with because the standards for catchers are different and he was a great hitter.
Garvey, Parker, Murphy, & Evans seem borderline at best.
Munson and John are no’s.
Whitaker I’d normally say no but can’t have Trammell in without Lou I suppose.
No thoughts on Miller.
The best player on that list, Mattingly, didn’t play long enough.

Personally, I don’t think a damned one should be in . But you have the Harold Baines argument. So I wouldn’t cry if any got in. We all know that not all HOFers are equal

The scary thing is Baines got in, this opens the door for pretty much everyone on that ballot. Neither Garvey or Mattingly belong in, nor does Munson or even Murphy but they could be HOFers now. Evans is a boarderline guy at best but with Baines in, that changes everything. That said, Ted Simmons should have been in a long time ago and my biggest pet peeve of all HOF voting ever, Lou Whitaker, who was one and done in the voting, the most stupid thing ever, belong in.

I was a Dale Murphy fan and he did well with his time in Philly but his numbers just don't flesh out a hall of fame career. He played 18 years and yet still couldn't crack 400 homeruns. Dave Kingman has the most homeruns for a player not in the hall(442) but he was an all or nothing guy. At least Murphy was a 2 time MVP, 5 time gold glover, and a 4 time silver slugger winner but his latter years are what's keeping him out. Mattingly not being in is a shocker to me. Oh, fun fact about Kingman: He's the only player in history to play in all 4 divisions(when there were only 4) in a single season. 1977 he played for the Mets, Padres, Angels, and Yankees.
