The funniest thing about this is how many DC fans think of him as being "on their side." Those silly bastards, lol. Excellent point.

Without the MCU, theatres may already be dead. That is because of the incompetence of the studios, not because people wouldn't watch movies. Why should ticket prices be $50 when digital cinema is cheap? It's corrupt business practices and unimaginative decisions by the studios that is to blame. In the old days people might walk by a theater and look at a poster and go inside based on that. Now, with tv, people may stay at home but I think it's exaggerated. There may be some technological drift due to home theaters or people watching movies on cell phones but it is mostly due to decisions by the studios. If people didn't want to go to cinemas-why are there revival theaters?
There's a drive-in that gets new 35mm prints of movies from the 60s and 70s so there is still interest in the out of home cinema experience.

Also, I don't think ticket prices cost THAT much. At least, I know that it doesn't in my area. It is blamed for causing people to not go out. Why should it cost so much? It's a racket. Lots of businesses don't run like that so why should film.

Look at the little bitch who ruined it for everybody. Also, I don't think ticket prices cost THAT much. At least, I know that it doesn't in my area. They don’t. Ticket prices are generally lower in less populated areas. And then there’s the huge mark up on concessions...that’s were the cinema operators make their money. Ten bucks for a box of popcorn that uses five cents worth of kernels?

The above are good movies and rise above the genre, but not art. There’s probably only a handful of motion pictures that I could considered to be true art. And it’s not a personal problem. I’ve been seeing movies of every genre for 55 years, so I know what I like. I’m not saying Marvel is great filmmaking, but it’s entertaining and is a true product of the Dream Factory. Neither do I insist you like what I like. I never gone on any board here and complained about a movie. It’s whatever floats your boat is fine by me. I just think filmmakers have the freedom to make the types of films they fucking well please. If Marty wants to bite the hand that feeds him...that is the audience...he can do so. He’s a free man, but I have the right to rebuttal also. I think Scorsese is being reactionary and short-sighted. Most people don’t want an elitist shaming them and that’s what he’s doing.

He sounds like a broken record. Reminds me of someone else. You mean Marvel fantards who explosively overreact to any kind of criticism even if its constructive?

Sure, only I've never played a video game in my life...except once, when first ping-pong came out. And when I became a teenager, the only superheros around were Batman in TV and Superman re-runs. Alfred Hitchcock was still releasing first run movies when I was going to the movies. I saw Psycho as a seven year old, young whippersnapper. I saw Scorsese first film "Who's That Knocking at My Door" in at college art house cinema before you were born. Hurrumph.

Okay, I think this is getting comical. .
He literally thinks MCU is ruining cinema.
Slams them, says they dont take risk
MCU fans, what are your thoughts on his new latest attacks on the MCU. This is like the 5th time he has trashed marvel in less than a mount.
He is butthurt his latest isn't getting a decent theater run because Netflix won't honor the usual theater run length. It's hitting streaming by the end of this month. Rather than get mad at Netflix, he is taking it out on Marvel as the reason he can't get studios to hand him a pile of cash to make films anymore.

He and Coppola didn't seem to complain about the corporate takeover of studios and diminishing business opportunities when they were getting catered to. But that doesn't mean they are wrong about the overall direction that it has taken even if they didnt care about it until now.
