In most horror and action movies and TV shows --- whether it's a murder mystery or monsters --- the victims are super vulnerable. They flip out, panic, do stupid things and make themselves easy victims.
They don't remain cool, calm, collected or logical.
Unless you are super vulnerable yourself, it's hard to relate to the victims. You are left with the feeling of "This is contrived." Or "They're so stupid, they deserve to die."
Those types of movies don't scare many people because many people can figure out why they wouldn't be a victim in that same circumstance. And they lose interest figuring the movie or TV show is just stupid.

In most chase scenes, the victim will fall down.
And then the inevitable look of fear, raising their hands, and slowly crawling backwards. (Most of us could get back to our feet and run away in the time they waste looking afraid, raising their hands, and slowly crawling backwards.)
I think this cliche --- and it is a cliche --- is called "paralyzed with fear". It's overdone.

Being single is the worst fate that can bestow a human.
Wanting to stay home and not going out to a party is as bad as kiling and eating babies.

This may not be a cliche but i find it pretty silly,
When a character you can clearly see is an adult and the character plays an adult but he looks like he is in his early 20s, and then one of the character will ask "Does you parents know you are here?"

Police and military being portrayed as stupid. And whose only solution to everything is kill and destroy.

People having top secret meetings, and discussing top secret plans in crowded, open air restaurants. In full view of 100s of people walking around, bustling street with traffic, and tall buildings around with windows.
Often there is somebody spying on them. So easy to do with their top secret meeting taking place somewhere that could not be more accessible to everyone.
(I think I've posted this before --- detectives talking about an investigation walking down a crowded street sidewalk, bumping into, and being bumped into by others walking on the crowded sidewalk. Sometimes they'll even stop at a street vendor and get something to eat, still talking about the investigation in front of the vendor and everybody in line. Of course, unlike in real life, nobody pays attention.)

The ultra urbane cool high school students (often "mean girl" types) who have life completely figured out and speak in an endless stream of hipper-than-thou, sardonic phrases.

Guy gets new girlfriend. New girlfriend sleeps over at his house. Old girlfriend drops in "without calling first" while the new girlfriend is still there, saying she made a mistake and wants the boyfriend back.
Boyfriend is too immature, indecisive and/or cowardly to tell the old girlfriend, "You shouldn't just drop in without calling first. And I have a new girlfriend."
Awkward confrontation ensues. Boyfriend loses both girls.

Routinely in movies and TV shows, when there is a court room scene, lawyers will enter the well between the judge, the jury, and the witness box. Not only enter, but approach the jury and witness during testimony and cross examination.
In the United States, it is forbidden for lawyers to enter the well. They either speak from their assigned desks. Or a podium in-between their assigned desks.

Not sure if this qualifies as a cliché, And i am sure many people will disagree with me
But it really annoys me when a character from lets say Regency England 1815 is given modern values. People who lived in 1815 had the values of people who lived in 1815 not the value of people who lived in 2023.
Or when they do it to real historical people who lived centuries ago, One example is the movie Mary, Queen of Scots (2018) where they pretty much gave her values of 2018 where she was fine with homosexuals', I am sorry but Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) was an extremely conservative catholic living in the 16th century she would not have been fine with homosexuals.
We may not like it, but historical people and fictional characters must be given the values of the time line they lived or the book is set in.
And don`t missunderstand, i am not saying its right to be against homosexuals or that there is anything wrong with it, its not. My point is that Mary Stuart would not be fine with it because of who she was and the time she lived.
The past is like a different country with its own unike culture. And even though there are aspect of the past cultures and values we don`t like. Its not right to give people being it historical or fictional people values and morals they did not have, Because they did not think like us.
I am probably explaining it badly.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Having young women be paired of with old men
Like the movie Mank (2020) which is a movie with the real life Herman Mankewicz who was married to Sara. In real life Sara was 2 months older than Herman, but in the movie they cast Gary Oldeman as Herman and Tuppence Middleton as Sara. and Gary Oldman is 29 years older than Tuppence Middleton.
And the movie the Dig (2021) which is also about real people. Basil Brown and Edith Pretty in real life Edith Pretty was 5 years older than Basil Brown. but in the movie we have Ralph Finnes playing Basil Brown and he is 23 years older than Carey Mulligan who plays Edith Pretty.

I think it's smart of you to see the inconsistency between fictional drama and real life history. You are smart enough to recognize the difference. Other people aren't. Those people are the stupid ones. Not you.
