I had both of those albums. I liked the Steppenwolf better.
At the end of 7th grade we had a party in the cafeteria at school and students brought in some lp records to play. When "The Pusher" played, the teachers weren't really paying attention until it got to the chorus with all the "Goddamns". They immediately pulled the plug on all the music because they didn't know what other forbidden language was on all the other albums.

The Pusher plods along repetitively, saved only by gutsy vocals. (Written by Hoyt Axton, as I recall.) Pusherman has a groove and creative arrangement.
