Have you been able to connect? I downloaded the app to my TV this morning but had to leave for work, so I didn't try to do anything. Hearing that some people aren't able to connect, but for others it's working fine.

Hearing that some people aren't able to connect, but for others it's working fine. Have been working relatively error-free. The only issue I had was that the app crashed a few times when I was trying to change my profile pic. I chalk that up to the tremendous amount of traffic their servers are probably under during this first day.

Do you plan on paying for this service indefinitely? If not, how many years do you think you'll stay subbed?

Do you plan on paying for this service indefinitely? If not, how many years do you think you'll stay subbed? At this point I don't see why I wouldn't continue it. It's the cheapest streaming service I'm currently subscribed under, and while it doesn't have as much content as Netflix, I find the content it does have far more interesting than majority of what Netflix has.

What's the oldest thing there? Something from the 30's? The 20's?
Is The Mandalorian any good?
Is there much by way of original/new content?

Did you own Netflix, and if you did, did you cut it off for this?

The oldest are from the 20's, like old black and white Mickey Mouse stuff. There's a selection where you can list shows per decade and they have a few for every decade. Right now there are only 11 originals, and Mandalorian is the only one that interests me. Might give Lady and Tramp a shot. The others are more kids stuff and behind the scenes shows. I'll watch Mandalorian tonight and let you know how it goes

Did you own Netflix, and if you did, did you cut it off for this? I had Netflix, Crave and Amazon Prime. I might cut off Crave in exchange for this. Amazon prime I'm keeping because it comes free with my prime membership which I need for online shopping. Netflix I'll keep for now because it still has a lot more content than Disney+, but as of right now the content Disney+ does have seem far more interesting than what I see on Netflix.

I’m sticking with Netflix for now, but I’ll see how I feel when getting this eventually.

Is The Mandalorian any good? [/div][/quote] Got to watch this last night and I have to say... yes, it's good. Very good. There's only 1 episode so far so hard to judge the series based off that, but I was very impressed with what I saw. Production quality is pretty high. Don't know if I'd say it was movie quality but definitely very close. It at least looks way more polished than the Netflix originals or any of the usual TV shows we get. Action was hard hitting. Not a lot of blood but still a bit more brutal than I expected from Disney. There was a tiny bit of humor but it definitely wasn't jokey. My only complaint really was that it only had 1 episode.

This whole IP is, after all, inspired by the sci-fi serials Lucas loved as a kid. Plus, it gives us time to let everything sink in and think about it, discuss the story, etc. I've already watched the pilot thrice and will prolly watch it a couple more times this week before watching the second episode this Friday. I prefer that to a single-afternoon content binge where most of it's a blur looking back and I didn't get to savor any of the details or really engage the plot thoughtfully over a period of days, which is a big part of what I personally love about these sort of long-form "prestige" television shows that've taken hold and really supplanted films as the dominant (and most relevant) storytelling medium. But I get why you would find the single episode frustrating, because it was so damn good you can't help but want more.

If you watch an entire season in two days, there's no way you're going to absorb everything they were trying to do, or even know how you feel about all aspects of the show. It's too much content at once, it was never meant to be consumed that way. You don't sit down and read a book in one sitting (well, I don't), and you shouldn't watch an entire season of a show in such a brief window of time.

And then you get to the next season and attempt to binge-watch that and realize, five minutes in, that you remember like 20% of the prior one because you blew through it on a random Saturday thirteen months ago. It's just not my ideal way to consume these types of shows.

You don't sit down and read a book in one sitting (well, I don't), and you shouldn't watch an entire season of a show in such a brief window of time. To each their own. When I sit down with a good book, I want as few interruptions as realistically possible till I finish the book. This allows me to get absorbed into the story more, as each distraction away from reading (like having to sleep, eat or go to work) lessens the enveloping experience provided by the story. I feel the same way with a good TV show. If I can binge it, preferably from start to finish, it allows me to absorb the story a lot more, enabling me to understand it better, relate to it better and retain it to memory better. Like, I have a clearer memory of Daredevil's 3 seasons compared to AoS's first 3 seasons... even though I prefer AoS more than Daredevil.
