This is my quiz result .
" You got 9 out of 10
How did you do? More importantly β are you more or less hungry now? "
The one that really stumped me was # 5.
only because IMPO it seemed a most out of place
food item among the rest of the meal there - oh well .

I agree certain meals on this quiz didn't look as appetizing
as the ones I grew up with either .
The dinner combinations in my time were much more appealing .
Thanks so much for your reply here too .

Good Luck and enjoy this one too folks !! Thank you, I did enjoy it very much. I scored 8/10 which I was pleasantly surprised by. But some of those meals!! I mean, picture #5 (answer spoiled below for people not taken the quiz yet) I answered sweet mashed potato even though there was already some plain mash in the meal. And it looked nothing like what my idea of cornbread looks like. But tomato soup?! Was it meant as a starter? But then the other compartments would grow colder as you ate the soup. Or maybe the soup is meant to be eaten along with the rest of the meal at the same time, but I just can't imagine that! Tomato soup, peas and apple crisp? No way, I'm afraid.
It's interesting that TV Dinners were once heated in a traditional oven. It must have taken at least 30-45 minutes and a fair bit of hassle peeling back the various lids at different times according to the instructions. I'm sure there are shoppers today who turn their noses up at chilled ready meals that take longer than 5 minutes to heat in the microwave! Pic #2 I think is the most off-putting and that #7 looks pretty desperate. But that said, the corn and the peas look tasty-ish although of course it could be the pictures were doctored to make the food look more appetizing than when actually served (although with some of that food any sneaky doctoring has failed miserably) rather like the pics of a Big Mac or Whopper on TV ads or the menu boards, and how it's always at least an inch thinner when you unwrap it - well, okay, I don't eat either of those burgers but you get my drift - like Michael Douglas in the Whammy Burger. His character spoke for millions of constantly disappointed consumers in this short scene which is, still and all, funny in the sense that you can recognize yourself in it, the many times you've been disappointed with a product which promised far more than it delivered! Also, in pic #4 I love how excited the manufacturer is in revealing their 'brand new thaw and serve' lift-out compartment! Thanks for posting such a fun thread

8/10
-- I thought tomato soup was cornbread. As a kid, I had TV dinners a few times. I don't recall ever having seen soup in any of them.
-- I mistook potatoes to be dumplings. That one was a wild stab, and I got it wrong.

I totally agree with you here
on all these points of this particular quiz
and a perfectly put reply here as well .
It's usually a shame when a
certain product in a food ad looks one way
and what the company gives you
is so far from what is advertised .
It's almost criminal and beyond disappointing too .
That's actually one of my favorite movies and scenes in that film
it's so darn accurate on so many levels also .
Thanks so much for this sharing this movie video clip
and again for your perfectly put reply here too .

I agree and don't remember having these strange combinations
when I had TV Dinners many years ago either .
I answered the exact same answer as you did on quiz question # 5.
it certainly didn't look like the food item I thought it was
and thought it was quite out of place for that particular meal also .
Thanks so much for your reply here too .

Lol, got 10/10. That's what having 6 brothers did to me. I never ate the stuff. By my parents had to have a freezer full for the neverending hungry growing boys. My mum can only cook so much. Ah, Sauerbraten-my sister in law's first meal with the family. She went home & told her mom, we were trying to poison her Her mom knew right away what we had & laughed. It's how it's supposed to taste!

Great family story here too .
I so agree those frozen meals
did come in so handy back then
especially with certain family members .
Actually my Dad used to eat one or two of
those quick meals as a snack before a real dinner too .
I certainly enjoyed those convenient quick meals
all through the 1970's and 80's
especially when I wanted something
good but not be a lot of work to cook up either .
When the containers went to plastic
it was even easier
just put in the microwave and done !!
Thanks so much for your reply here too .
