Based on the 70s TV show about people who come to an island to fulfill a fantasy and often get much more, is reimagined as a horror movie. Director and writers are from Truth or Dare, which I haven't seen. Stars Maggie Q. Trailer youtu.be/a6O30nJ02PUIt's a cool idea although I was kinda hoping for a reboot of the TV series.

It's a cool idea although I was kinda hoping for a reboot of the TV series. I somewhat remember watching the old show. Like 'The Love Boat' a bunch of HAS-BEENS come to the island.

It's not the worst idea, but it looks pretty lame. And 'from the director or Truth or Dare!' doesn't exactly inspire any confidence.
Also, all somebody like me, who wasn't born yet when the show was on, knows from the show is the little dude yelling 'Zee plane, zee plane!' To not have that in the movie is weird.

I think this could be a really interesting take. Though I don’t really like Jeff Wadlow as a director.

I think this could be a really interesting take. Though I don’t really like Jeff Wadlow as a director. I had no idea he had been around as long as he has. I remember some people liking Cry Wolf when it came out, and I guess I've seen Never Back Down, which was pretty bad. The highest profile thing he's done was probably Kick Ass 2, which I never saw. I just assumed Truth or Dare? was made by some young director who didn't really know what he was doing and just tried to get through it, because it was so poorly done.

I thought the premise was interesting and it definitely had some creepy moments. I don’t know why he was chosen to direct Kick-Ass 2. That movie felt like it was made by someone who had never seen the first one. Truth or dare I tried watching, but couldn’t make it past 10 minutes. I wanna believe he can actually be a good director, but needs a good script. I actually wanna believe Fantasy Island can be what he needs, but it’s the same writer of Truth or Dare as well.

Interesting that they are going the horror route. Wouldn't have guessed that since the tv show was so cheesey and vanilla.

The concept lends itself to horror. Maggie Q being the star doesn't bode well either but who knows.

Not sure if she's any good as I've only seen her in lame bullshit, but she hasn't been the weak link in anything I've seen.

Michael Pena is Mr O'Rourke so I suppose he's the male star but I've never heard of Lucy Hale, either way, the cast is full of B and C listers. I'll almost certainly watch it either way out of curiosity.

The show was rebooted during the late 90s with Malcoim McDowall playing Mr Rourk . It only lasted two seasons and it wasn't that good. Still I like the irony of two iconic Star Trek villains playing Mr. Rourk.

Lol, they reorganized the IMDb list so that the women all have top billing.
