But he still did the same thing to both Jean Greys.
Like I said in my previous post about Cyclops, you can't chose which parts of the comics you want in the movies (when they are not explained as such in the movies) to fit your narrative of why things work in the movies. Cyclops is immune to his own powers because they are his powers. They are the same as Havok's. There is no other dimension. The same goes for Nightcrawler's teleporting.
In the 1st two movies, Storm controls the actual weather. She doesn't create the semblance of the weather. Not until X3 did she start shooting electricity from her hands. At that age in life, comic book Storm would have tossed Toad with a blast of wind or shot lightning at him from her hand. When he jumped on the railing she just looked at him with her hand up. Like bud47 said, Jean just holds him up like she won. They've said that they have fought the Brotherhood many times before. The SoL fight makes it like this is the 1st time they have ever fought them. She'd know about the slime he spits.
On a side note, I always thought it was funny in X2 when the team was watching the news and Cyclops jumps in saying "My guess, Magneto's behind it!" Yeah, no shit! Who the hell else have you gone up against! But it was not Magneto. it turned out to be William Stryker. Xavier confronts Magneto and he says no, it was not him. It was Stryker and Styker almost did it, wiped out mutants in a way that need not require massive CGI video game scene. Anyway this thread is about costumes, can someone explain how costumes makes a comic film better? it looks like it only adds to the theme park vibe.

Well, that's called "FIGHTING". They are not invicible or unbreakable, and you should admit that the MCU HUMAN heroes like Black Widow and Hawkeye have PLOT ARMOUR and seem 100% superpowered and unbeatable wherever they are not. Chitauri say: "Hello!". X-MEN and X2 are more grounded, the X-Men can be beaten (TOAD has superhuman capabilities, not just a long tongue), but they eventually combine their powers, kick ass and win, like in each PERFECT final fight of the Original X-Men Trilogy. Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey/Marvel Girl use their powers in a great way and they are very skilled on the battlefield, but they have no superhuman strength, speed, agility or stamina. They are basically soldiers in uniform. Sabretooth has superhuman strength, speed, agility and stamina. Toad has superhuman strength (in the legs), agility and ability to leap.
Jean knows Toad's abilities because they have fought the Brotherhood before. And yet, she holds him up like his legs is his only mutant ability when she just saw he could have hit her with his tongue. She thought she won a fight. Rookie mistake. Slam him into a wall head first. That's like if Wanda just held Thanos up instead of crushing his armor on him.
I know what the problem is. They are wearing all black. Wearing black when you have a telepath to make you invisible is stupid to the eye and an electrokinesis to short out cameras is stupid. They rely too much on wearing black.
No, Jean did not encounter Toad before, that's obvious. The Brotherhood line-up tends to change from time to time. And she was on her basic "Movieverse Marvel Girl" phase, so hitting him toward a VERY DISTANT wall, across a huge space, was hard to accomplish. The Toad was FAST, super-fast and super-agile, on a Movieverse Werewolf McCoy/Beast level. FANTASTIC touch of retroactive continuity: Toad did not kill Scott Summers/Cyclops or even harm him, but just locked him into a display case, because they had been BOTH inmates at Three Miles Island in 1983 ("ORIGINS"). So there was a nice empathic connection between the two. All the fights in "X-MEN" and X2 were fantastic. Very grounded, exciting, well-crafted, well-directed and well-choreographed. P.s: JEAN GREY couldn't make them invisible. She had not enough power as "MOVIEVERSE MARVEL GIRL". Blame Xavier for that. Black was tactical anyway. They were a secret strike force team.

Also you keep talking about how "people" don't take this or that seriously, people or fans will have more of an issue with this or that, but you never give proof, you just assume you are the voice of the majority, but take a look, you hate the MCU and yet it is a thriving franchise, you love the XCU but it was a stagnant franchise the size of it's fanbase stopped growing after the 2nd movie, which is a fraction the size of the MCU's fanbase. And people literally bitch more about Thor not having his helmet than they did with Ragnarok being a feature length sitcom, as for paint by numbers story telling, the X-Men say hello, or did you miss the repeated story beat of Magneto befriending then betraying his allies in X2, X3, First Class, DOFP, Apocalypse and even Dark Phoenix I believe, even 2 of the Wolverine movies has Logan being betrayed by an "old friend" who wants to use his healing factor for their own ends, when you want to be a dick about it only about 4 of the movies in the franchise have "unique" stories to them Also Biggest joke drive of the MCU??? just what the fuck is it you meant to say here?

Kind of missed the point didn't yah? Scott assumes it has to be Magneto because he has no other frame of reference, Magneto is the only threat they know about so it has to him in Scott's mind is the point I believe being made here, which clearly went over your head. Comic accurate costumes add to the aesthetic of a film, it's why costuming can be key in any movie, take Goodfella's does it hold the same weight if when Henry, Tommy and Jimmy are looking like big shots if they are wearing board shorts and novelty T-shirts with Boob Inspector on them? no they need to be looking sharp to sell the intent, these are important people with tons of cash, I mean does Xavier send the same message of sophistication and intellect when he's in his bathrobe as he does in his suit? Their costumes are an extension of their personalities also, you can even see this in the MCU, the arrogant characters have more flair to their outfits, the more straight forward heroes were more functional outfits, in the X-Men their generic uniforms give off little personality, personally though I think a base uniform with individual flair works and should be what they use in their next incarnation, they are a team but they also need to be more distinct from one another, look at a show like Sons Of Anarchy or Mayans MC, every club member wears the same basic cut but they all add their individual flair to it same with their bikes, they mostly ride similar bikes but have unique detailing to each member.

I think Scott mentioned Magneto, and only Magneto, for a reason. "X-Men 2000" is a UNUSUAL superhero movie, because it depicts the X-Men at a post-advanced state. They fought many adversaries in the past, then went on "hiatus" for a while. Beast and some other members had left the team some time before, I would say years before. When Magneto returned at the beginning of the movie, they dusted off the team and soldiered on Wolverine. I guess Magneto was the only option left, because they had incapacitated all other adversaries in the past. Or maybe, Scott just recognized some "familiar" traits and pointed out at Magneto, even if he was innocent.

I dunno the Beast line could simply be seen as a reference to First Class, there's nothing I recall being said by anyone implying that Scott, Jean and Storm have faced any real opposition, even X2 kind of suggest this maybe the case what with no one but Striker's unit knowing about the team, especially seeing as Jean for one is a somewhat public figure yet she doesn't hide her identity on the 3 missions we see her go on, could be the X-Men were active from FC up till Xavier shut his school down but then didn't become active again until recent years and then kept on the quiet, not facing major threats but more run of the mill saving Mutant's in need from persecution and offering them a sanctuary at the school, which kind of feels more palatable than Xavier enlisting teenagers to his strike force for extra credit .

Beast was supposed to have been a member of the team EVEN in the nineties, it wasn't a reference to FC. The uniform he was wearing in TLS was the one he wore as X-Man in the Nineties, as revealed in the movie.
The X-Men were supposed to be a VERY secret Strike Force Team in the Nineties. I guess Emma Silverfox, Banshee 2 and Quicksilver 2 (all three from "Origins") were X-Men as well.
The uniforms, the Blackbird, the equipment, the "X" logo --- these details suggest that the team was once very active and focused on missions.
The simulation in the Danger Room at the beginning of "The Last Stand" implies that the X-Men faced the Sentinels before, at least a prototype version of them.
Still, the X-Men were a secret. Nobody knew about them, except Stryker.
On a side note, the fights between the X-Men and Stryker's team were absoilutely awesome and very well-written/directed. Fantastic fights.

JEAN GREY: no, no, no. APOCALYPSE is another timeline. Xavier repressed MOST of her powers, and this created an alternate personality inside her. In the Original Timeline, the "PHOENIX" wasn't just a simple alternate personality unrelated to her powers, but a standalone conscious manifestation of her suppressed powers in the guise of an "alternate personality". CYCLOPS: no, no, no. You can assume that there are interdimensional fissures like in the comic books. The concussive energy comes from a NON-ENSTEINIAN dimension. Even comic book Cyclops in some issues showed no control over the optical blast, because he couldn't close his eyes INSTANTANIOUSLY like we do. STORM: Movieverse Ororo Munroe doesn't generate electricity, she's immune to it (of course) and she can channel it from the SKY. Natural electricity.
No, in X3 she had just learnt to PREVIOUSLY absorb and store lightnings inside her body. You never stop to learn. Before that, she was skilled enough with her powers in both X1 and X2. Storm couldn't summon wind, there wasn't enough space to control that, she was just concerned about Jean's safety. The whole fight scene TOAD/SCOTT/JEAN/ORORO was well-choreographed, directed and acted. The X-Men were well trained, but Toad was like BEAST with many other additional powers. They had never encountered Toad before. The Brotherhood changed line-up many times. PLUS, Toad was not brutal with Scott because he remembered Scott from the ORIGINS days. Again, inconsistent and ridiculous nitpicking which doesn't hold water. There was nothing wrong with the fight. You're not a Fox X-Men fan so you have fun with these types of things.

Again, inconsistent and ridiculous nitpicking which doesn't hold water. There was nothing wrong with the fight. You're not a Fox X-Men fan so you have fun with these types of things. Storm does manifest wind, that's how she flies up the elevator shaft and how she sends Toad flying out of the SoL, which is clear by her hair and her cape, just levitating in a breezeless environment wouldn't have her cape moving like it would, it would move as much as her body did, and her hair would be falling flat not flying upwards and around as it is, plus she is generating electricity/lightning, watch the scene as she comes out of the elevator shaft, she isn't drawing in electricity but exuding it. The Toad is like Beast argument is more an argument against them being well trained, as it means they had no co-ordinated plans in facing someone with a similar skillset as their ex-team mate, Toad only has 2 additional powers, both of which emanate from the same orifice and toad doesn't really combine his powers, like he uses one after the other, boots Scott then uses his tongue to slam the door, kicks Storm and Jean then uses his tongue to fling Storm, leaps to attack Jean gets stopped then spits on her, so these are more basic things they should be trained to deal with, now had Toad lassoed Scott as he backflipped over him only to dropkick Storm in the face on the way down, well yeah thats a combo move they shouldn't have ever dealt with, instead it was single attacks which were followed up by another single attack. Though I wish the Toad thing were true most likely reasoning was divide and conquer, Scott would seem like the biggest threat, he can instantaneously shoot beams to of his head, Storm can summon lightning but it takes a few moments, and Toad was clearly trying to kill the ladies, likely to then take on Scott solo and not when he's part of a team, because well why would toad remember Scott at that time, depending on the timelines you use it's been anywhere from 16-21 years since they met before, Pyro was best friends with Bobby for seemingly years, still tried to murder though.

In X1, when she comes out of the elevator, lightning is coming out of her. But she still walks outside and has lightning come out of the sky.
Are you an Fox x-men movie simp?
I think you say something is nitpicking when you can't figure your way out of it. Because you know I'm right.

They know who all the Brotherhood is. There is nothing that says that the line-up changes. Also, how would they change? Only the X-men fight them and they barely defeated them in X1. And Storm knows Toads name because of her riddle joke. So if she knows his name then they have met before where his name is mentioned. You think only Cyclops, Storm and Xavier know who the Brotherhood is, but they keep everything quiet from Jean?
Strike Force implies that they know what they are doing.

1- STORM... well, my point was that in the elevator shaft she had the time to summon wind FROM THE OUTSIDE and summon lightnings from the sky, and just having them "running" through the elevator corridor and coming to her. I've read somewhere that Synger intended Storm's powers in the first two movies as being "pure control" over weather and weather elements, NOT generating them out of nothing like in the comic books.
2- Movieverse Cyclops needs time to manipulate his visor and shooting beams. That's why his power is more grounded, wherever comic book Scott has buttons in his gloves.
3- The events of Origins occured 16 years before (1983). I guess that Toad spent some time at the Xavier's School, so he had the chance to know Scott (and Jean) in their formative years. That would also explain why Toad used the slime spit and not the acid spit on Jean. He didn't want to kill Scott and Jean.
That said, Toad was moving faster than them, he had superhuman physical capabilities a-la Beast; probably Toad was well-trained in a military way (that's why Magneto hired him in the very first place), so his "single attacks" worked over the trained and skilled X-Men anyway. In-universe, his actions were faster than what you see on-screen.
The fight was great to see, wonderful. Singer did a superb job as always.

In-universe, his actions were faster than what you see on-screen. The fight was great to see, wonderful. Singer did a superb job as always. Problem with that is nothing is shown implicating that with Storm, the win is only locally in effect, when she is blowing Toad flying the wind is only effecting that in front of her not behind her, if she were summoning it from elsewhere it would be running through the building causing major damage considering she is causing winds strong enough to send hundreds of pounds of humanity...or mutaninty? flying through the air, and when Toad is sent flying outside there is no sign of other strong winds it's all just emanating from Storm, and no way she could summon that much wind into the elevator shaft as it was, as you have to expect all the doors were shut, no wind would be able to flow into that shaft at the required speed needed for Storm to fly as she did. I have never heard that Singer intended Storm to simply summon weather, though I maybe wrong but I don't recall him saying it on the DVD commentaries either and I listened to those things a bunch way back when, visually it looks clear as day to me Storm is generating the wind and electricity and then summons the lightning, like Storm can generate herself a certain amount of power locally but for the real big stuff she needs to manipulate the actual weather and summon things like a lightning bolt or tornado's and such, otherwise they needed to do a bigger job showing Storm summoning the weather, which could have been cool, like Toad being cocky then the windows start rattling, he see's shit flying outside then he hears the noise from the elevator and Storm arrives like a boss, which would have been easy and cheap enough to do really, wouldn't require CGI just some heavy duty fans and a couple of crew members rattling loose glass panels. My point about Scott is he's a bigger threat you need to take out because to fight Scott if you are Toad you need to stick and move, because Scott can quickly blast him, like even if he took Scott's visor again all Scott needs is to know where Toad is for a split second and he can open his eyes and roast him, Toad is fast but he isn't light speed fast, to fight Scott he would want it to be one on one, not 3 on 1 as Storm or Jean could cause a momentary stalling of Toad's movements and bam he gets hit with an optic blast. Toad was clearly trying to kill Jean, he covered her mouth and nose with slime she couldn't breath through or ply off, it required Scott's optic beams to break the slime and save her, this is also you rationalising based on the wonky X-Men timeline, Toad shows 0 care or recognition towards any of the X-Men in the movie, and it's based on a what 2 second cameo of a completely different looking character with kind of green skin and a weird tongue, but it could be a 3rd Toad character, as DOFP Toad in no way resembles X1 Toad, and he cannot be the same Toad as in Origins because Origins is set years later and this Toad looks nothing like DOFP Toad and appears to be younger also, so this feels like a pretty big reach, and is more you implying your own timeline theories towards the actual movies and not judging the actual content of the movie imo. But Beast and Toad having similar abilities means the X-Men should have trained with and against Beast so they know the strengths and weakness's of such powers and how to combat them, Beast canonically having been an X-Man for what 30 years or so? So he himself is extensively trained, so they should be very well versed in facing a combat experienced acrobatic and superhuman strength style mutant, if they themselves are meant to be extensively trained also that is. That scene is a great fight scene in showing off Toad, which given his lack of character development he needed in order to be memorable in the least, Storm, Jean and Cyclops not so much, though limited they did get time in the movie otherwise and were coming back for a sequel or two, so they didn't need to be highlighted, whilst why they structured the fight as they did makes sense, and how they pulled it off was great, it still left the X-Men looking relatively weak combat wise.

Question about Wolverine's hair: Have you noticed that, from ORIGINS onward (even the following X-Men movies: "The Wolverine", "Days"), they left Hugh Jackman's forehead totally uncovered by hair? Do you think that it looks bad in comparison with the Wolverine haircut of the original trilogy, where the forehead seemed more "covered"?

I think uncovered is better.

I think uncovered is better. That's alright. Does Hugh's forehead look large, or normal?
