I keep waking up every night between three and three thirty AM. Chucked this DVD on to watch just now.
It's a sequel, with a flimsy connection to the remake of House on Haunted Hill.
Badly written, badly acted (Andrew-Lee Potts tries his hardest with a cheesy script though, bless him).
Basically, it's like Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones in a haunted house, with quite a lot of gore thrown in.
Flimsy pretext, cardboard characters.
I'm giving it 4/10 for sleep deprived early hours nonsense entertainment... Probably only a 3 at best if watched in a better frame of mind.

I kept avoiding this for some time. I really enjoyed the remake, maybe even more so than the original. When I got around to seeing this I was pretty bewildered that it was so bad!!! It wasn’t very memorable, wasn’t scary, didn’t really have any characters that I liked either.

I saw that one on SyFy years ago. Towards the end, I was thinking “wait isn’t Geoffrey Rush in this?”. Then I was like “oh no this is terrible.”

If I recall correctly, this was directed by the same hack that gave us that Hellraiser Revelations abortion.
Yeah, I didn't like it. I remember thinking it had potential based on the cast, but it's so amateurish it makes the remake look like a modern classic by comparison.

Just checked and I'd given this a 3/10. It's certainly not memorable, and it's been a while, but my takeaway was that it was just really shoddy and cheap.
I wanted to give the director the benefit of the doubt on Hellraiser just since the parameters he was working in were essentially impossible. He was set up to fail and he was a fairly accomplished technician, so I don't want to judge him to harshly for that. But looking it over now, I've seen a few of his films and they're all shitty and cheap and made in a way that suggests nobody knew what they were doing. You can only give the benefit of the doubt so much.
