I'm blanking, here. What is the technical name for this effect? Reserve Dolly? I've also seen Scorsese do it -

Dolly zoom is what I got. Sounds like a Marvel character.

There are so many good moments from his movies, I am not sure I can pick for a Top Five list... But... This scene has always been one of my favorite scenes... Using the Crystal Laser in the Map Room in "Raiders Of The Lost Ark": I've always been fascinated with all that Ancient "Aliens" level of knowledge, tech, & traps... as well as secret passage ways... that have been portrayed in TV & Movies... That in conjunction with John Williams fantastic score... In My Opinion, makes the scene one of the most "magical" in all of his films.

The look on Indy's face when the location to The Well of the Souls is finally revealed...

Spielberg knows to put the best scenes in many of his movies up front. He knows how to hook a narrative.
Close Encounters (the best opening sequence) Jaws Raiders of the Lost Ark Jurassic Park

When that banner floats down, Spielberg is proclaiming: now the B-movie rules Hollywood

IMPO - It was certainly these impressive
yet unforgettable movie scenes
that stuck with me for literally years - even now .
Of course I have many other scenes I really liked over the years
but these are the ones that stand out for me in the moment .
Thanks so much Popeye Doyle for your subject post .
