What movies fit this description for you?
Game Night. Sounded good, UNTIL I actually saw how they were promoting it, quickly lost all interest.
Knives Out. Haven't seen the second trailer yet, maybe it's got something better than the first one but so far, not impressed with what they're showing.

Game Night is good though. Very funny with lots of twists and turns in the action.

The way that last Hellboy movie looked from its trailers did piss me off. And that was before the reviews came out.

I don’t mind gore, but once all hell let loose (literally) it just got disturbing and seeing people being stepped on by gigantic monsters and all the blood and stuff coming out really bothered me. I thought Jersey Boys would have been great as a movie, until I saw the trailer and then the movie came out and reminded me nothing of how much fun the stage production was.

How do you decide what to watch then?

I don`t judge movies based on trailers.
But surely they must influence whether you will see a movie or not once in a while?
because some movies I am sure we both know we are just going to watch straight up and some movies we just ain't going to bother with. but some movies might be a bit more up-in-the-air whether we will see them or not and in these areas a movies trailer can be of decent value in determining whether we will ultimately see the movie or not.

Sorta tied into what I said in my reply to Feologild but trailers only influence me occasionally for or against seeing a movie as it basically boils down to whether I need more info about a movie or not. like say the subject matter looks interesting enough and has a decent enough cast but has some random no-name director then a trailer might be worth a bit more in these cases.
but I think for the most part... it's not like a trailer has too much of a effect on whether ill see a movie lately as I am getting a bit more selective on what ill watch lately than from not all that long ago.
but anyways... as far as the general topic, I can't really think of any specific examples off the top of my head to where I was at least mildly interested in a movie to where after seeing the trailer I lost interest in seeing a movie.

Well the story line and the trailer, But i don`t judge the movie whether its good or bad based on the trailer. I never judge a movie to be good, average or bad until i have seen the whole movie.
