Amazon cut a minute out of the controversial film, Pretty Baby (1978). What do you think about that?
Check the run time before you buy digital on Amazon. They don't tell you when they do this. You have to check.

I think it's a load of crap, it's not up to them to decide what's appropriate. You either show a movie as it was filmed, or you don't show it.

Corporate censorship.
Last I hung out with some friends who have Disney +, I saw it doesn't have The Simpsons episode with Michael Jackson. Some networks pulled it after that HBO documentary. I guess Disney + is among them.
Woke censorship. The term makes me cringe, but that's what it is. Socially responsible or well meaning censorship is still censorship. I'm not married to the episode but I'm inclined to say boooooooooo.

The answer to all this is keep buying physical media or find an uncensored stream because totalitarian corporate overlords are trying to control information.

That reminds of when Spielberg edited ET to replace the agent's guns with walkie talkies, what a joke. Though I will admit that's rather impressive CGI work (didn't realize it had gotten that advanced)

Though I will admit that's rather impressive CGI work (didn't realize it had gotten that advanced) I always thought that was an on the nose joke at the end of Thank You for Smoking, where William H Macy argues so sincerely that digitally replacing cigarettes with other objects in old movies isn't censorship, it's improvement.
Although yes, admittedly the technology is impressive. But still. Ew.

Though I will admit that's rather impressive CGI work (didn't realize it had gotten that advanced) In thinking about it, I just realized the guns was more about the alien than stopping the kids. They were dealing with an unknown force from another planet and had no idea of how much of a threat it was. Which is why they showed up in space suits at the house in the first place. So looking at it from that perspective, it makes sense why they would have the guns which should have been kept in.

I don't know if that is what I would call it.

You gotta love it when one of the largest corporations in mankind decides what you should be watching.
I would love it if this was the kind of thing that would make folks not want to deal with a monster like Amazon, but most of us sheep are happy just to keep our heads down and just keep chewing the grass.
