Well I never said it was unexplained. Yes, it makes sense. That doesn't mean it was gradual though. There was nothing gradual about it. Okay, how about this. The 1st time we see the Hulk, he is pretty much uncontrollable (Incredible Hulk). The next time there is some control issues because of an outside influence (Loki), but we see that Banner has a handle on being able to turn into the Hulk at will (Avengers). Then we see that they have figured a way to bring Banner back (AoU). By Ragnarok, we see that, because he has been living as the Hulk for 2 years, Hulk's mental state has aged by that number of years (toddler). No change in Infinity War. By Endgame, Banner and Hulk have come to a type of peace agreement where they have merged into one person. An extroverted Banner. Seems pretty gradual from the beginning to Endgame. In Ragnarok, Hulk has been Hulk for however long he was in Sakaar (might be longer than 2 years due to how time moves there) and for the entire time he was Hulk, Banner was completely unaware of what was happening. Banner even comments that it was different this time, that he was completely without control which implies that at other times he became Hulk he had some semblance of control. This indicated that their two entities were actually getting further separated. This is further enhanced in Infinity War when nothing Banner did could make Hulk come out, reinforcing the idea that they were completely divided. Then at the beginning of Endgame, without any preamble or lead-up, they are now merged and working happily together. Sure there was a quick explanation given, but given how contrasting it was from what happened in IW, can you really say that this was a gradual change? They go from completely being separate and not cooperating in IW to being a single unified entity in Endgame.

He says that they each had a hand on the wheel, but this time it was like he was like he was locked in a trunk. But then when Banner meets Valkyrie he keeps saying he feels that he knows her, too. So he wasn't as unaware as he thinks. And them both having a hand on the wheel doesn't mean he had some control. It just means he had a front row to what was going on. But at the same time, Banner has asked what happened after he changed back. I think they were always separate. Banner kept calling him "the other guy." Before, Hulk was pure rage that figured out who is allies were (the Avengers). In Ragnarok, he actually aged up.
Yes, I can say it was a gradual change. Because I already did. And like I said he told Hulk near the end of Infinity War that they needed to have a talk. It wasn't noticeably leading there if that is what you're talking about, but it is an evolution that led there.

Endgame hulk looked like an overgrown Tom Arnold lol Looked like an animation. If that's animation then it's pretty realistic. Also if you choose to reply with a video please don't use the deleted scene with unfinished CGI.

uk.ign.com/articles/2019/11/17/lou-ferrigno-disappointed-with-hulk-in-avengers-endgame-mark-ruffalo-bruce-banner-disneyWhile speaking at Canada’s Hamilton Comic Con (as reported by ComicBook.com), Ferrigno took umbrage with the way Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, in the film, had merged his mind with Hulk's body. Though it was the film's take on Professor Hulk from the comics, Ferrigno felt it took away the monster aspect of Hulk that he felt was important. “What’s happening is that the first two Hulk movies, the CGI was improving, but the last one, Endgame, I was disappointed," Ferrigno said. "Because the Hulk needs to be hideous, he needs to be a creature." “You see in Endgame, Mark Ruffalo —- I think it has a lot to do with him and Disney -— I didn’t like the way it portrayed [Hulk]. It took away that beauty, that quality of the Hulk. That’s why a lot of people liked the [original Hulk] series.” Ferrigno also felt Avengers: Endgame was too “extreme with the spaceships, the shooting, the outer space.” “We need good stories," he added. "Good elements, good messages about life. Because when you see the [original Hulk] series, even like The Twilight Zone, the original Twilight Zone, you learn something from every episode." Did he just say we need good stories.
How many times have I said here that MCU movies are poorly written.

Hulk has been FINELY handled on "THE AVENGERS" (2012). That was an epic win. I think that they turned him into a WEAK and HOLLOW depiction in the sequels and following movies. Too bad, because Mark Raffalo did a god job on #1.
His worst depiction is featured on the parody/travesty known as "Thor: Ragnarock". Horrid to say the least.

The main difference between us is: what you see as an improvement in Banner and Hulk's relationship in Ragnarok and Infinity War, I see as an actual regression of their relationship. In the first Avengers movie, Banner was already able to transition into Hulk on command. In AoU, Hulk was able to easily revert back into Banner on command with a bit of assistance. In Ragnarok, Hulk was no longer able to revert into Banner on command, negating whatever improvement he achieved in AoU. In IW, Banner was no longer even able to change into Hulk on command, putting the Hulk-Banner dynamic even further back than what they achieved in the first Avengers. Actually, he wasn't even able to change into Hulk at all regardless of how much danger he was in, putting his relationship with Hulk even further back than TIH. Then after that massive downhill slide, you come into Endgame and POOF! - they're perfectly in sync. Can you see why it's not exactly a gradual change?

Then after that massive downhill slide, you come into Endgame and POOF! - they're perfectly in sync. Can you see why it's not exactly a gradual change? Oh, no, that was exactly a regression. Because Hulk aged up. That was the point of Banner and Hulk having to work out issues and come to an understanding that created Professor Hulk. They would not have made that evolution without there being a rift between them. They would have stagnated in Banner being able to willingly change into the Hulk and back with Natasha's help. But, at the same time, it was still a step by step process over 13 or so years to get them to that point.
The thing about Banner and Hulk before Endgame is that there was no understanding between them. Banner just learned to keep himself at a level where he wouldn't turn into the Hulk. When he aged up, Hulk realized what was happening. That's why he wouldn't come out in Infinity War. He knew Banner was using him to fight for him. If he could control the transformations then he was basically controlling the Hulk. Same goes for finding a way for them to turn him back into Banner. But then that's where the gradual change comes in. It wasn't planned by Banner and Natasha, but they were basically working up to having them both out at the same time.

Marvel didn’t have much choice here since the right was owned by Universal. Of course, you won’t get that because you’re somehow more idiotic than Hei Hei. Universal made the best hulk film in 2003.
They laid a good foundation for Edward Norton.
Ang Lee also thinks MCU hulks sucks.
You know when I left here, the mcu film maker hate was not even that bad, even when I used to list them. now its so bad I am almost feel sorry for the mcu. to be hated and dimisssed more than 50 shades and transformers is a real bad for you mcu knights.
Feige is looking embarrassed. that is what happens when you have no street credibility.

First of all most of those filmmakers don’t "hate" the MCU. Secondly a few filmmakers isn’t most people. and finally you’re far more brainless than any MCU fan I’ve come across.

1. 2003 Hulk was Eric Bana, not Edward Norton. 2. Universal didn't make The Incredible Hulk from 2008. They've only distributed it. 3. Your sentencing sucks. 4. No one is trashing Fifty Shades or Transformers series because that's like beating a dead horse. Marvel is getting trashed because it's currently one of the most popular series out there. 5. You're absolutely delusional if you seriously believe that a film series' quality can be judged by the number of people who trash the said series.
