I remember Cyrax from Mortal Kombat showing up at one game last season!
It's all about copyrights BS. The fans can show up as copyrighted characters in repaints but if a football team does this they would get the shit sued out of them!

The whole point of mascots is to come up with something new and fresh. Even though a few of my samples and yours are copies of something else, I'm surprised that a team of a city where there is so much crazy creativity for Mardi Gras came up with two things that do not reflect that at all. Here are a few pics of Mardi Gras. I would think a pro football team could at least try a bit harder to have a mascot reflect this creative and fun spirit of the city they play in. The Taints mascot(s) don't have to look like any of these of course but they could have done better than what they got IMO.

I just figured out what the mascot should be. Make a costume of a giant roll of paper towels and then give the guy something that looks like a gate to hold and then it will be in honor of bounty gate that helped them cheat to their one and hopefully only SB "win."   See? BountyGate! |
