My username is self-evident; if I want to laugh, I need it mainlined with stand-up comedy. It's very rare I find any humor in movies in the "comedy" category. I never liked slapstick, screwball, or stupid. I seem to like angry behavior, someone calling out bullshit, getting to the truth, exposing something essential flippantly, or things that are well-written (usually inside laughter).
I'm thinking of funny parts, and they're all in dramas. -Harry and Tonto -La Strada -One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest -Buffalo '66
or that scene with Joe Pesci in "Casino" when he starts yelling about Charley M.

At least they cater to their audience.. MSNBC is just as worse, but they're still right-winged.

You must have meant... CNN/MSNBC.
p.s. FoxNews is easily the best of the mainstream news channels as just about everyone else is fake news.
They are definitely left from clips I have seen.

While I like serious movies more than comedies in general, and while there are some straight comedies that stand out, I noticed for me it's usually movies that are sorta drama/comedy mixtures (sorta like half serious/half comedy or so) that tend to work best.
but I think in terms of your good more serious movie (with an occasional bit of comedy) and average straight comedy... there is a reasonable chance I could find more stuff funny in the serious movie over the comedy. because most comedies are a dime-a-dozen and ain't really worth watching.

My favorite "comedy" (and film) is Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? so I guess take that as it is.

Well, I would say I prefer darker comedies/dramedies (ie Fargo, Fight Club, Scream, etc) over straight comedies for the most part. Not quite what you're saying, but.

Fight Club didn't give me many laughs but that's probably subjective. I don't know about Scream. It's a self-aware horror movie so it kinda borders on comedy given the theme. It's mocking slasher conventions.

"Ben and Arthur" has to be seen to be believed. I suspect the guy that made it was trolling, but I could be wrong:

There are more laughs in Casablanca than any number of Hangover type films.

They aren't even in the center. They do nothing but sell war, and even off commercial, all those weapon manufacturers.
Let me know when they discuss seizing private property to give to the poor....

It's not necessarily that I prefer non-comedies, but it's usually these movies that make me laugh. Stuff like American Psycho, Chopper or Fight Club. I really had to laugh during the horror flick Revenge (2017) because I took it to be a black comedy even though I understand many people thought it was a straight thriller.

Sometimes I guess. I thought Get Out was hilarious, more so than any actual comedy in a long time.
