omg, Love it!! The scenery the history, all of it! Now I only wonder if the 3.5 days I have is enough to see that and thee Iguazu Waterfalls.. Thank you for this wonderful recommendation. Have you been there yourself? Tierra del Fuego is Patagonia which I mentioned earlier. Do you have to go back to Buenos Aires after this side trip? If you do, I wouldn't go to Ecuador. It's really not that close!Β I may have the option of going back from Bogota instead of Buenos Aires still looking into it. The trouble is that the whole continent looks so interesting that itβs becoming really hard to chose just one or two places to visit in this short trip, one doesnβt know where to start...

Funny, I own a copy of the Oxford Dictionary of World Geography which includes detailed maps. The color map of South America shows Tierra Del Fuego, but there is no indication of anything called Patagonia. Upon further research, I found Patagonia to be both part of Argentina and Chile. Tierra Dell Fuego is the southernmost tip of South America. And, in my travels, I've been to Brazil, but that was a business trip.

I will be in Buenos Aires and will have a long weekend to do some traveling. I have been to Santiago, Bogota and Montevideo in LATAM. If you have 3 days where would you go? I am thinking of jumping on a plane to go to Lima. (sadly I donβt think I would have enough time to go see Machu Picchu) Or Rio De Janeiro. It will be early February. Any tips for where to spend the 3 days? I am ok with flying anywhere if itβs within letβs say 4-5 hours of flight from Buenos Aires. I prefer exploring nature over cities. I would go see the Nazca Lines, but that's in Peru so it's probably too far.

Plus Peru I feel deserves more than a two day trip. I will have to carve out a longer time to visit Peru and also Chile.

Itβs so weird to be in a hot country in January February. Hi from Colombia. Itβs like 100 degrees here. But itβs beautiful.
And I am a total giant here...

There's always Ushiaia, at the southernmost tip of South America, on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago. It's a blustery place but they have a pretty good restaurant there. Next stop, Antarctica. ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/xr9gjsqs9/frozen.gif) The Falklands is another blustery place, but they have a nice pub and you might even pass an emperor penguin outside the grocery store like I once did.

They do all wait their turns, it's so civilized and cute! Went to a penguin sanctuary in Chile too, they are such waddlers out of the water, and some of them live way inland for some reason and have to waddle home!

I imagine it might be worse now. If you have a sweet tooth, make sure you try alfajores. It's kind of a cookie sandwich with a chocolate or dulce de leche filling. It's an Argentinian specialty.
