I know that TRANSCENDENCE bombed, making studios doubt about him as a profitable director. However, he's still an Oscar winner. Isn't that enough to give him another chance? Or has he gotten offers but he thinks going back to working as a cinematographer is a step back? Can't he find work as a director outside of the studio system? After all, his credits since 2014 are mostly directing and producting TV episodes. That's not a bad thing by any means, but I want to know if he'll direct another movie.

No it's all about the money. Unless he finds an independent investor or something, he's stuck doing television. Not like that's a bad thing, we're in a pretty good era for it.

I'm guessing he'd rather direct than do photography, and as a director isn't landing the mark. He did some good work with Nolan but I for one am glad Nolan's moved on with Hoytema instead as he's truly one of the best in the business - and a massive positive influence on Nolan's work, judging by the way he's been acquainting him to the likes of Tarkovsky, Bresson et al.
