I'm a sucker for just about anything with Boris and/or Bela, although this one is a bit of a curiosity: an underworld crime story dolled up with sci-fi overtones. Bela gives it his all, as usual (and with limited material), and I'm sorry to say Boris pretty much phones it in. But I thank this picture for introducing me to Stanley Ridges, who walks away with the show, and of whom I became such a fan that I'll still seek out any film he's in, no matter how small the role.   Ridges: meek and mild one moment...malevolent and menacing the next (and never mind how the effects of transplanted brain tissue periodically take 15-20 years off his age; just go with it). |

You know what'd be interesting? A slasher movie centered around Black Friday shopping. Make the Purge symbolism about capitalism even more obvious.
