Just watched this...
I liked the idea of it. A ventriloquist's ghost, her dummies, that kind of thing.
It should have been played for maximum creepiness, rather than tongues cut out shock me shock me kind of stuff. Too much crash bang wallop, not enough creaking doors.
I wanted to like it more, I really did.
5/10

I felt the same way about that movie. I never cared for the Saw movies or anything James Wan has done subsequently, frankly, but multiple told me that was one I should really go back and watch because it was morencrewtive and elegant and really well made... and I didn't find it to be that at all. It felt very typical of James Wan, and I was really disappointed in how uninvolvong and lame it was.

There were moments where it seemed promising - which is better than crud. Ultimately, it didn't deliver. 4/10

Been a long time (maybe even a decade) since I can recall watching the film. My recollection is that it has a strong emphasis on atmospheric dread over actual scares. My memory says it's a 6/10 but that could change with a rewatch.

I remember it having good atmosphere and having some genuinely creepy moments. James Wan sure knows how to direct the hell out of a horror movie.
