... was a high school dropout?
Hahaha, I like that. I spit on the idea that you have to go to college to get a good job.
Thomas didn't get a job in the sense of submitting an application and being interviewed, which is where a college degree would have come into play.

That's great except for every success story like Thomas' there are thousands of people in the unemployment line. You increase your chances for a better job with a college degree.

Dropping out of college to be successful is only an option for someone who actually has a successful idea.

I don't have a college degree and I make $100K a year. Also, a college degree only makes sense if it's practical. A degree in Bisexual Asian Poetry isn't going to land you many jobs. And another fact about Dave Thomas, he was adopted.

And another fact about Dave Thomas, he was adopted. I didn't say it was impossible. You just increase your chances. About 20 years ago I recall Builder's Square started a new policy of elevating only those with college degrees to management positions. And it didn't matter what the degree was in. I knew a woman who became the general manager with a degree in art history. Today Builder's Square is extinct, so maybe things are different now, I don't know. Yes, ideally one should work in their field of expertise, but life has a way of changing our plans. I've known lots of people with degrees who don't work in their field of study.
