I actually don't think he's ever really watched it. When I asked him why he hated it and wouldn't watch it, he just said he didn't like Charlie. I explained to him that they make Charlie likable. He also said he's tried to watch The Big Bang Theory, but couldn't stand it, said he didn't like Chuck Lorre's humor. I think it's all in head, because there have been times my parents and I were watching TBBT and he was forced to watch a few minutes of it with us and was laughing at the jokes. Lol.

I simply cannot imagine how some of the best of their jokes could Not work on anyone. They are so cleverly written. I think its also tv from the times when comedy was comedy (and not depressing drama that people are supposed to find amusing - and they do because it makes them happy that it also happens to other peope maybe?) and younger generations are not used to it anymore I am rewatching 2 1/2 men now for like the 3rd time in my life the whole series and I almost think the older i get the more I appreciate it and the more I realize how well written (and acted of course) it was. To me its art.

Really hard to say. I loved the show. It was really funny (actually, I found that the funniest characters in the show were not from the main guys - Charlie, Allen, & Jake - but from some of the women on the show, interestingly enough). which ones? I love Evelyn Harper of course and Berta is very funny as well but my favorite female on the show was always Kandy. Yes. Evelyn, Berta, & Rose. However, as you pointed out, so was Candy.

its a very tepid show with no rewatch appeal and sordid jokes that aren't funny at all. All that said the show would be fine nowadays.

Never found it funny myself, but would occasionally watch it casually back in the day just for something to do. The brothers are undeniably lecherous, but I'd assert that the show portrays men and women in an equally dim light. The women are either bimbos, slobs or schemers and the men are either sex maniacs or idiots (usually both).

If you think there are not shows and movies which objectify women and show men as cavalier playboys, you don't get out much. And it was only 5 or so years ago that Sheen left the show. You act like it was made fifty years ago. Things haven't changed that much. I think a lot changes in those 5 years actually. I am aware that there are still shows that are sexist etc. but give me an example of a show that has sexism as a sole premise of the show and that is new, as in originates after let’s say 2015. It’s fewer shows than you would think. Things are changing.

I agree, both genders are portrayed pretty poorly but the value of women on the show is pretty much only for sex. Even with Chelsea who is shown to be smart and capable Charlie is only really interested in having sex with her, she has to force him to do other things and they don’t really ever do them eventually. Plus the jokes repeatedly highlight that women talking is annoying, men must pretend to listen or to be interested (while only doing so to get sex). It seems quite monotematic actually.

Well the problem is that everyones so sensitive nowadays. Sometimes a joke is a just a joke. So the modern version would probably have to be a woke version in order to get made now. Like maybe the dads would have to be gay guys. As a matter of fact, I expect that will get made someday soon! And it might even be good! Who knows?

Remember when Two and Half Men became Two men and One of Their Moms, and then One Man and a new Man? And then it finally got cancelled?

At one time, sitcoms (if not dramas & soap ops) were very family-centered. Not just in the fact that they focused on families (because who doesn't have a family?) but, in the sense that they did not make on air dirty jokes or sexist portrayals. All this changed, about 30 years ago, with Married...With Children, which was about a very dysfunctional family. The father was a under-paid shoe salesman. His wife was a stay-at-home mother who didn't even do any work in the house. The daughter was a stereotypical dumb blond, & a slut. The son was overly obnoxious kid & a gigolo.

There's no denying the show's laddish credentials. RE Charlies relationship with Chelsea though - I think a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that Charlie is basically a sex addict with few other interests. Most of his relationships are brief and superficial as a result. When he does finally get seriously involved with someone, he simply doesn't have a broad enough lifestyle or sufficient interests to give Chelsea the kind of wholesome relationship she expects and requires. He's basically a lucky (and wealthy) bum.

Hell no, it will be considered as sexist toxic masculinity.

I never saw 'Two and A Half Men' so I can't say I had anything personal against it but I have never been a fan of Charlie Sheen 'cause of his history of violence towards and after hearing about some of the things he has done over the years I just find him to be a very vile and disgusting person and it is men like Charlie and what they were allowed to get away with doing and still be the highest paid actor on TV which is why the 'MeToo' movement exists today. www.collectiveshout.org/charlie_sheen_violence_against_women

Charlie Sheen pretty much admitted his view of women, with his role as 'Charlie Harper' on Two & A Half Men.
