that he removed his name as an "Executive Producer" from the film. Wow, considering he had no problem with his name being on movies like The Legend of Zorro, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Men in Black: International, that says a lot!

Those are less embarrassing than The Haunting, which is not only bad on it's own, but one of the dumbest remakes of a good horror movie.
That movie is hated more than the other movies you listed. The Legend of Zorro for example is just really really REALLY dull.
Transformers: The Last Knight is worse than The Haunting, but still less pointless.

I wonder what the exact moment Spielberg made his decision was. Spooky CGI bedsheets? Owen Wilson getting his head bit off by a lion statue?

I think we know why he was a part of The Haunting and The Legend of Zorro.

I like The Haunting remake. Don't know what is problem is. Where is his integrity? Is he trying to protect his image to disassociate himself. It is transparent.

The set pieces in The Haunting remake are some of the best I've ever seen. And the CGI still looks halfway decent today. I legitimately don't get it. I've always loved the movie. People really hate it?

I always thought it started off pretty good, builds quite nicely, but the third act is dumb and weak.

I have seen worse movies.
I just looked on IMDB on the trivia for the Haunting (1999) and appartnely the 1999 movie is not a remake of the 1963 movie but a new it is a new adaptation of Shirley Jackson's novel, i am sure plenty of people knew this but i just found out so i am writing it down here.

I find that hard to believe Speilberg would do that. All of those movies are forgettable if you really want to get technical about this.

People really hate it? Just to be clear, we’re talking about the 1999 movie, not the recent Tye Haunting of Hill House Netflix series

The Haunting remake is pretty boring, both Transformers: the Last Knight and Legend of Zorro is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, Men in Black: International I can understand.

I will be honest.
The Remake actually scared the heck out of me when I saw it at the Movie Theater.
I am pretty sure though that it was because I never saw the Original and so I didn't know the story or what to expect at all.

His Amblin company produced it, and Spielberg had yet to venture into R-rated territory, if my memory is correct.

Tiny hint that is bullshit: the Shirley Jackson novel is not called "The Haunting".
