Once I did almost always get at least a drink and popcorn, often a small hotdog. Nowadays, almost never. Tickets are expensive enough.

Anyone who doesn't buy at least a soda needs to be exiled from the country.
There's no reason to go to the cinema unless you buy something. Same for the drive in. Concession stands are a necessary part of the atmosphere.
People who smuggle in refreshments need to be tied to a horse and dragged through the aisles. Then they need to be exiled for life, to Antarctica.
Not buying a refreshment is like not leaving a tip at a restaurant. If you can't afford the tip, you have no business buying the meal. If you can't afford the concession stands, you have no business buying a ticket to the cinema. If a person is such a dork that he has to see something right away on a big screen, and can't afford refreshments, he is telling the world he is the extreme dork.
Not buying a refreshment is like making "Breakfast at Tiffany's" without the final cat scene.
Not buying a refreshment is like making "King Kong" without a log scene.
Not buying a refreshment is like making a disaster movie where no one can speak "jive".
Not buying a refreshment is like making a Sherlock Holmes movie without London fog.
Not buying a refreshment is like making "Cabaret" without the "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" scene.
Not buying a refreshment is like having a top 400 rock song list without a single Beatles song
Not buying a refreshment is like leaving "Superheroes" out of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".
Not buying a refreshment is like serving Pepsi products instead of Coke products
Not buying a refreshment is like voting for Mitch McConnell.
Not buying a refreshment is like having John Wayne shooting Bruce Dern in the back and Dern shooting Wayne in the front.
Not buying a refreshment is like putting on sunglasses that don't make some people look inhuman.
Not buying a refreshment is like an orc killing eighteen dwarfs, sixteen elves, and fourteen rangers in a fair fight.
Not buying a refreshment is like being a mayor of an island who won't close the beaches due to shark attacks and cries "sick vandalism" when he sees a billboard being defaced with a picture of a shark.
Not buying a refreshment is like being a Specter "little fish" who reports back a failure to his boss.
Not buying a refreshment is like being the nerd in a horror movie.
Not buying a refreshment is like raping men in a pawn shop.
Not buying a refreshment is like a pizza without black olives.

Not buying a refreshment is like not leaving a tip at a restaurant. If you can't afford the tip, you have no business buying the meal. If you can't afford the concession stands, you have no business buying a ticket to the cinema. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Assuming that you're being serious: That's not a good logic. Sure, both things are optional, but the tip is the reward for giving a service better than usual, while buying a refreshment is a reward for oneself.

Often, I'll sneak in candy and maybe a sandwich from a nearby Subway or Togo's depending on time. But, I always buy a drink (usually a milkshake) at the theater and maybe a snack item or additional candy.

Usually I get something. The exception is if I’ve just eaten dinner and aren’t thirsty.

Never usually. And one time I had a jacket in my hand and the manager had the usher check to make sure I didn't smuggle food in. What a jerk. I guess that's where all the money comes from.

Never. Too expensive. Sometimes I sneak in some beef jerky or Boston Baked Beans (a candy). Or cherry sours.

I never buy snacks.
I go to the Dollar Tree nearby and buy candy if I'm with my family and make sure I eat before I go to the movies.

Not always, but whenever I go to the Curzon in Canterbury I have one of their gourmet hot dogs, which are delicious.
