Not impossible I suppose, but sabotaging a car in order to provoke an accident doesn't seem like a very good method for killing someone. Too many things could go wrong.
So Camus won the Nobel Prize for literature at the age of 43. That is remarkable. There can't be too many recipients of the prize who won it at such a young age - especially considering that it is awarded not for one specific book but for the author's body of work.

I'd agree, sounds like an improbable and chancy assassination method, but nothing surprises me--though I doubt if it would ever be possible to definitively prove this theory.

If so it would corroborate Yuri Bezmenov's speech here where he discusses how the USSR nurtured leftist agitators only to kill them off once they took power (he specifically talks about leftists who turned against the USSR once they realized how they had been used):

βIt seems it took the intelligence three years to carry out the order,β ZΓ‘branaβs diary reports. βThey managed eventually and in such a way that, until today, everyone thought Camus had died because of an ordinary car crash. The man refused to tell me his source but he claimed it was completely reliable.β
They sure played the long game.

Unless they show me some concrete evidence, I'm not buying it. You can have a blowout on any kind of road. It being straight has no bearing on it. You may strike an object you didn't see (this has happened to me) or if the tire is under-inflated, it will blow when it gets hot enough.
