Is the movie gonna focus mostly on Genie or is he getting paid lot? Smith rarely takes supporting roles and has high salary demands

I don't even think they should even bother remaking the movie, since we don't have Robin Williams around anymore to play the Genie, which was the element of the movie that made it so popular in the first place. If they really want to make an Aladdin movie so badly, they should instead go back to the source material (The Arabian Nights) and do a straight, more mature adaptation. A remake of the animated version would flop.

And if they really want too make this remake that bad they should get someone better.

A live-action genie would only work if they completely redid the role and made it as far away from William's Genie as possible. Part of what made Genie so funny was the visual gags and fast-paced comedy that works well in cartoon animation. It would look ridiculous and cringe-worthy in a live-action/CG setting. Will Smith is a TERRIBLE choice, by the way.

Also, the emotional bits were very well delivered in the 92 movie, something I find Will Smith incapable of duplicating.

I'm not a big fan of his so I haven't seen any of his work in the last decade or so. But from what I have seen, Smith has a tendency to overact and yell. I agree that he doesn't have the emotional chops to pull off *subtle* moments that made Genie and Aladdin's friendship special.

You know, people bitch and moan that RDJ plays the same character every time because of Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man but disregard "Tropic Thunder" or "Zodiac". Yet the same people claim Will Smith is a "thespian" with master chops when he plays the same fucking character in every... single movie. If you haven't seen anythig of him in 10 years? You haven't miss ANYTHING. e still plays the same character as in MIB, Wild Wild West and so on.

This feels like miscasting to me. I don't think Smith can bring the manic intensity and energy that Robin Williams brought to the role. I feel like Smith would come off more like his "charming, cocky black characters" of Independence Day, Men In Black, Wild Wild West, Bad Boys, etc. and that wouldn't feel right for the Genie character in my opinion.

I wish Will Smith would just go the FUCK away and never appear in anything, ever, again. And take Tom Cruise with him.
They're caricatures of themselves at this point and ruin everything they're in.

What's interesting is that I liked the sitcom, but not for Will Smith. I found him to be mostly annoying. The supporting characters were much more funny and watchable.

While I found Will to be funny, Carlton was hillarious because of how much of a donut he was when Will was around. That always killed me.

Will was undeniably the most annoying character in the whole show. Everybody else was great in comparison. The butler was funny, uncle Phil had his moments and Carlton was hilarious! Will was just annoying and all of his humor just felt forced and reeked of arrogance.
