The announcement video.-Geez! I wasn't expecting that much love for THE 2 POPES, based on other award ceremonies so far. -Finally some love for Todd Phillips! -They say that if you can't get a G.G. nomination (which has a bigger field since they separate the acting categories by genre), then you won't get an Oscar nomination. Does that mean that Robert DeNiro, Lupita Nyong'o and Adam Sandler are out of the race? -THE LION KING for Best Animated Film?! Even if there weren't more deserving movies like I LOST MY HAND, I'd be angry! Even ABOMINABLE would've been a better option! -No VEEP at all? Fine by me (I'm not a big fan of the show), but I thought it was a lock for Comedy Series and Actress in a Comedy Series.

DeNiro is a surprise. Watched The Irishman at the weekend and thought it was easily his best performance in decades

can endgame still land a best pic oscar nom? So far, it hasn't been nominated in any ceremony that contains 10 Best Picture nominees. The Oscars usually nominate 7-9 movies. So... No. I mean, it's not impossible, but it's very unlikely.

DeNiro is a surprise. Watched The Irishman at the weekend and thought it was easily his best performance in decades De Niro was very sub-par; not helped by the way he plays a young man in his 30s, but has the stiff gait of an old man in his late 70s. It was a bit silly. Plus he was very dialled-down and droll, boring even. He just pulls the "Robert De Niro Face" for 3.5 hours. |

As of Right Now, What are the chances that Joaquin Phoenix could Win Best Actor at the Golden Globes Awards ? It's hard to say. In recent years, it has been common for a movie or individual to not win much throughout most of the award season and then start winning closer to the end, eventually winning an Oscar. The complete opposite has also happened (Ethan Hawke in FIRST REFORMED, anyone?).
