I saw George Thorogood play small venues in the late 80s, before he became famous. In fact, he opened for local acts. He'd come out in t-shirt and jeans, hefting a vintage Gibson with P90s. He was an absolutely amazing raw power. He became quite polished and lost appeal. Never saw Springsteen but I heard him in '77. I'd just finished my last exam of the semester, knew I'd aced it, and headed for my car in the parking lot. The Boss was playing the gym and I lay on the hood of my car and enjoyed the "show". That's interesting about "Lonesome George". He opened for the Stones in 1981, i thought he was famous then. Thorogood, Journey and the Rolling Stones. George was great and to were the Stones. Journey sucked Grandma's soggy left tit. My grandson's goldfish could put on a more energetic show.

I saw Thorogood in the late-90s at the Catalyst here in Santa Cruz. There was a big storm happening and about an hour before the show the power went out. Luckily, the Catalyst had a generator and the show went on. Thorogood was friggin amazing, a fantastic show. Would love to have seen him again, but he's pretty much retired now. Another guy I've seen a few times who is a GREAT small club act is Junior Brown. If any of you have never seen him, but get a chance to, don't pass it up. He is a blast to see live.

Second of all, "The Boss was playing the gym"?? What ?? More specifics, please......if you don't mind. SAVE FERRIS

I have seen Yes four times. Three years in a row at Madison Square Garden (1978, 1979 and 1980) and most recently in the middle of a city street in Orlando, FL (2011). The Orlando show was the only performance I know of that they ever did for free (sponsored by a local radio station). I was actually in the very front row at MSG in 1979 and took pictures which I still have.

I used to watch the basketball team play Syracuse and St John's in that cozy venue. That was before the Hoyas became a top ten team.

For me, its country singer Trace Adkins.
1.) June 30, 1997 at Opry Land before it closed up in Nashville, TN (I met him after the show! Happy 15th birthday to me!) 2.) Early December 1999 at the Best Buy store in Knoxville, TN (his third album named More was being signed that day) 3.) CMA Music Festival in 2000 AKA Fan Fair at the time (I took a picture of him signing for other fans.) 4.) 2002 Appalachian Fair in Gray, TN (Two shows were done and I saw them both.) 5.) 2003 Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville, TN 6.) 2004 Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville, TN 7.) 2005 Fun Fest in Kingsport, TN 8.) 2005 Foot Hills Fall Festival in Maryville, TN 9.) 2018 Grainger County Tomato Festival in Rutledge, TN
God bless you and Trace always!!!
Holly (a day one fan of him)

Couldn't tell you how many times I've seen Killing Joke. Not that it's in the hundreds and I'm some kind of weird stalker, just that I first saw 'em in 1994, and I've seen them most years since then. But not all.

Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, 3 times. Heart, Glenn Frey, Hall & Oates, Chicago, and Melissa Etheridge twice each. If I decide to go next summer, Garbage twice when they come in with Alanis Morrisette.

The Nighthawks absolutely ruled the local DC music scene in the 70a. One of the times I saw Thorogood, he opened for them. The guitarist here is Jimmy Thackery who went on to form his own group.

Horslips, Manfred Mann's Earth band and Hawkwind - about a dozen times each. Pink Floyd - 4 times......although I could say 5 if a concert abandoned after about 2 minutes (seating collapse) counts. Eric Clapton - 3 times including once with Cream Fleetwood Mac - Twice John Mayall's BluesBreakers ~ Twice Bad Manners ~ Twice David Bowie ~ Twice Peter Green's Splinter Group - Twice

Weird Al Yankovic twice. It would be 4 times, but I didn't have the money to see his other 2 local shows.
