I feel like someone injected cocaine from God directly into my brain for about five minutes, and then I am seized by self-doubt and worry that no one likes any of my other posts and hate myself.

Other. Usually it just feels like the thread might keep more traction & I could anticipate checking in later. It's not a huge thing for me. I seem to get more ppl replying my responses that weren't ever liked. Same I guess for me liking someone else's post - I've always kinda treated like voting for decent posts & likes as voting to keep a discussion going.
I've heard from ppl with kids that youth these days have become overwhelmed with 'likes' & views & all the rest. Personally, I stopped caring around 2010 after Facebook stopped being a fad & started being a waste of time. I still tweet & like things at Twitter, & yet I really couldn't care less who/how many likes or even replies.

My vote here was - " Appropriately proud; I must’ve made a good contribution. " .
I also enjoy the all around positive impact it makes here on this entire forum - a win / win for all indeed .
So my feelings towards getting a " Like " as well as giving a " Like " is quite rewarding in itself too
( but IMPO I also enjoy writing a follow up reply just to explain why I liked the other posters reply in the first place ) .
Thanks so much sdm3 for this fascinating subject post .
