Nothing against Kelly, she's probably a fine actress and all, but Rose was one of the most superfluous additions to the new trilogy thus far, and simply a terribly written character through and through. People like to complain about Rey being a Mary Sue but Rose is basically a textbook definition of it, straight down to her role as an overqualified mechanic in an understaffed rebel force and her quasi-romantic fling with one of the previously-established protagonists which also involves helping that character overcome a flaw they'd supposedly already dealt with in the previous installment. Maybe there's more to her role in this upcoming film, though it also seems like she's included in the consideration just because she's part of the supporting cast, in which case, fair enough, you do you, Disney.
