The difference between China and the West is the same problem faced by corporations in the west. China was tightly controlled, micromanaged by royalty, which means the whole can never be better than the individual ruler. The west had less centralized authority, divided between religion and ruling families which forced leaders to be more liberal and delegate control. Corporations face the same problem today. Those that are micromanaged are limited to what an individual can achieve. Organizations that delegate and decentralize power can be as great as all the people whom contribute.

Do they also explain why Europeans are superior to every other people on earth? I'm saying this in terms of technological advancement and the fact that no other people on the globe discovered how to make an electric light or send signals through the air which could be broadcast on a television? Do they explain why no other people on Earth but the Europeans developed such a wide range of philosophy, everything from Neoplatonism to existentialism? Do they explain why white Europeans conquered the world? Read the book "Guns, Germs and Steel".
