he'd make sense -he was on some dominant teams 3 different franchises that won the Cup. Montreal, Beary's team and my team. Kris Draper is another solid guess. DING DING DING Kris Draper is correct. Claude Lemieux was a very good guess and would probably be one of mine. But we were looking for Kris Draper Congratulations, you have earned my suspicion!

This is something I came across last night while looking up some things on Hockey Reference. And I think it makes a really good trivia question, so here we are. Disclaimer: This is a no win situation. If you get it wrong, you get it wrong. If you get it right, you will be accused of being a cheater and judged. Cause I probably would not have guessed this if I had fiddy tries. So here we go: Of the 10 players who played in the most playoff games in NHL history, 9 of them are Hall of Famers. One is not. Who is he? Note: This is not like a future Hall of Famer, like a Jaromir Jagr or something like that. So it's not a trick question. This guy played his whole career and will not be making it into the Hall of Fame outside of visiting. Names came to my mind... Larry Murphy Dave Andreychuk Kevin Dineen Jamie Macoun

I was blinded trying to find guys with multiple teams over many years. Here's a question: Chris Osgood, should he be in the HOF? I say no.

Not sure if this is up to date, but according to the link below, these are the 10 players with the most playoff matches: Chris Chelios 266 Nicklas Lidstrom 263 Patrick Roy 247 Mark Messier 236 Claude Lemieux 234 Scott Stevens 233 Guy Carbonneau 231 Larry Robinson 227 Glenn Anderson 225 Kris Draper 222 www.quanthockey.com/nhl/records/nhl-players-all-time-playoff-games-played-leaders.htmlAside from Claude Lemieux and Kris Draper, the other eight are in the Hall of Fame - so maybe there are two correct answers? Or maybe the person who came up with the trivia question got Claude and Mario mixed up?

I was definitely expecting Gretzky to be in the top 10 though.
Being a Devils fan I doubt Beardy got those two mixed up. Funny my two guesses were in there. Beardy said something about "homerism" which lead me to Claude, which lead me to the 1996 hit that broke Draper's face. I had a couple guesses first, but doubled checked they were in the HoF.

I guess I didn't pay enough attention. I thought he was relaying a trivia question that he had heard or read somewhere, not that he had come up with it himself.
The bit about getting Claude Lemieux mixed up with Mario Lemieux was a bit of a joke anyway - I can't imagine anyone who knows the first thing about hockey doing that!

Ah, perhaps he did.

Wow, I actually did fuck up. I apologize. I could have sworn I saw a star next to everyone's name in the top 9 and then a star-less Draper at 10. So yeah, Claude Lemieux and Kris Draper are both correct. My eyes must be playin' tricks on this Ol' Chunk of Coal
So Sports Fan got 'em both. The Draper is the more impressive one though. I think Lemieux was a somewhat obvious one. I think he made the playoffs every year except his last one or something like that.
This came about because I recently retired in NHL 18 and wanted to see where I ranked in playoff games played. I didn't even look at the names, I just thought I saw 9 stars indicating a HOFer for the first 9 and then Kris Draper. We sincerely regret the error.
In case you're wondering, and of course you're fucking wondering, I finished 1st in games played(317) 1st in goals(155) and second in assists and points. But I didn't have Messier and Kuri and a forward playing defense like Paul Coffey to pass to, so I think we are all in unanimous agreement that I'm better than Gretzky. I'm passing to Pavel Zacha and shit. Glad we agree
