And do you have any "horror stories" about dealing with any/some/all of them ?? SAVE FERRIS Tracking shows that a package I'm supposed to receive via FedEx has been sitting in one of its delivery vehicles, out for delivery, since Thursday morning. In a different city.

I took a package of books to the USPS and asked to send them Media Rate to New Mexico. The postal worker said I couldn't use Media Rate because New Mexico wasn't in the United States. I pointed to the map on the counter and said, "Here's Texas, here's Arizona, and in between we have New Mexico."
I took another package of books to the USPS and went through the same routine with another postal worker.

Interesting question because it made me realize that I do something odd, and I don't know why. I live equidistant (about 2 blocks) from a US Post Office, and a UPS store ... one east, one west. I hadn't considered it, before, but I send packages like gifts, via USPS. However, official documents I send UPS. Example: My tax man is a couple of counties away, and I "overnight" my tax info to him UPS, knowing that his delivery is around noon. The only time I send "things," via UPS/FedEx, is when I have to return something that I've ordered online, and the merchant provides return labels for the service of their contract. ( I thank Bravomailer for the tip. If, ever, I have to send something to New Mexico, I'll definitely send it UPS.) Add Edit: Having considered the above, I changed my "vote" from USPS, to "no preference."

I've shipped thousands of packages over decades and the service that has been most reliable for me has been USPS. Next most reliable was probably DHL but I've used them the least.
