Just reading your headline without opening -my first immediate reaction was yours - especially with USC/UCLA.
Maybe the kid just wants explore the country and get away from home? I mean these are fine schools and who the hell would want to leave California?
This is pretty much my reaction when I see a top Philly basketball player has signed elsewhere in the country as opposed to 'Nova, Temple, LaSalle, Drexel, Penn, St. Joes - just disappointment.

Maybe they think they aren't getting enough exposure on the west coast. Maybe the California programs don't pay enough.

Other ways the USC recruiting class is being contextualized:
* Maryland has three times the number of 4 and 5 star recruits that USC has.
* Bowling Green has a higher rated recruiting class.
* USC's recruiting class grade is closer to UMass (1-11 UMass, closest loss was by 21 and lost to Rutgers by 27) than it is to the second-worst Pac-12 recruiting class (Arizona).
For the love of Lendale White, what is going on here? ? ?

CAA football is high quality football - - don't know why UMass alumni, students, and fans would be happier being 1-11 than playing meaningful and close games against New Hampshire, Delaware, Villanova, etc.

I don't know why they made the leap to FBS, the school isn't going to spend the money necessary on the stadium or the facilities required to compete. And yes, as a fan I'd much rather see the team play competitive games instead of getting blown out on a weekly basis. I miss the good old days, don't we all.

Pac-12 football is dying. Two appearances in the playoff, none since 2016-17. When was the last Pac-12 regular season game that excited you? No program is consistent. Oregon appears to be the leading school, but this is the first season they have won more than 10 games since 2014. USC is up and down week to week. Washington is the poster child of a team never living up to expectations. And too many schools are irrelevant. Arizona, Colorado Oregon State, Cal, all have the appeal of a MAC team. This has been building since Peter Carroll dynasty ended. The Pac couldn't bring 5 stars in, now they can't keep them at home.
