Iโm not what anyone would call a huge Star Wars fan; I enjoy them the appropriate amount. I like the OT, Rogue One, and parts of the new ones. The prequels were largely terrible with some briefly entertaining sequences here and there. But word on the street is that a new Star Wars movie is coming out. Indeed, in some parts of the world itโs already out.
Any fans of this little franchise, and will anyone be seeing this new movie? I think itโll be nice way to pass the time while waiting for week 16 in the NFL.

I havenโt seen the previous one and Iโm not invested in this one. As far as Iโm concerned Star Wars consists of three awesome movie only. The rest is fan fiction to me.

have yet to see a star wars movie---any good? You should definitely see Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Oh boy, youโre in for a great time! I mean itโs no Larry Crowne.

Saw it tonight. It's grand like. Lots of "pew pew" and โWum, wum, wumโ, tons of fan service and callbacks to the original series, a bit too many bait and switches, and faaaar too many "just in the knick of times". Gets moving at the get go and keeps moving at a fair oul lick, no poxy trade talks here. Carrie Fisher is handled sensitively and there's cameos aplenty to keep the fanboys happy. Daisy Ridley is the heart and soul of it and she keeps it all together even when it gets very twee. The one thing that stood out was the fact that they clearly had zero idea where the trilogy was gonna go when they started and obviously made it up on the fly. Most notably in this installment which felt at times like it was written by committee purely to keep the godawful toxic fannies who couldn't handle change on board. Which was why there felt like little jeopardy for any of the main characters throughout. It's like they saw what Johnson did with TLJ and the backlash from the dummy-spitters and said "y'know what, lets not upset the 100 billion dollar apple cart". It's all played very safely.
As i said, it was a grand (in the Irish sense) way to spend 2+ hours munching popcorn and I was entertained throughout. Just don't expect it to be life-changing.

My interest in Star Wars has just about flatlined. Ill give it a watch sometime in the new year to say that ive watched it - but thats about it.

You know how people say stuff like "If I had a time machine, I would go back to 1920's Germany and try to stop Hitler's rise"?
Well, if I had a time machine, one of my stops would be in 1977, so I can warn people not to go see Star Wars. I would really try to prevent it's popularity.
Yes, we would lose three great films, but we would also lose everything else that has come since.

Review has been bad. What a shame. Such promising start of the new Trilogy with Force Awaken, followed by the great stand alone Rogue One. The piece of trash The Last Jedi ruined the franchise. They missed the chance of taking advantage of the interesting story of Finn after turning away from the Stormtrooper, and never brought that up again in the first two movie. The never developed the character Rey through two movies. I have no connection with any of the new characters. This is the first time I know of in my lifetime that Disney failed big time.

Not a huge fan by any means, but I've seen all the movies in theatres and even though I didn't like eps 7 and 8 all that much there is no way in hell that I wouldn't watch ep 9. Planning on going this weekend.

I've seen most of them I think so at one point or the other and I haven't liked a single one. Yes, that includes people's precious original trilogy. Just don't care for them. My favorite part of the whole series is probably Darth Maul in Episode One and his awesome light saber battle. Bring that dude back into a movie and I'll be far more interested.
I will say, with the mixed reviews that the film is getting I feel like Star Wars fans deserve a shitty ending because of how toxic that fan base has become from shitting on directors and random actresses on Instagram because they thought they were shit and the petition to remake Last Jedi and so on. Sucks for the good fans but damn those toxic ones really make the lot of them look bad and it makes me think they deserve a shit movie.

I had complained that last jedi contained 0 fan service and dismissed all the important and interesting things from Force Awakens.
SPOILERS FOLLOW
RoS does its best to rectify that situation. I'm left a little empty, as the waste of life that is Last Jedi sours this episode, as the first half of this episode should have replaced much of Last Jedi. This would have allowed for a bit more conversation and relationship building, not to mention time to tell me what the fuck everybody is doing now, at the end of the trilogy. I literally have no idea what Finn, Poe, Lando, the droids, or anyone else besides Rae is doing. And I don't even really know what Rae is doing, cause she'd be dumb as mud to stick around Tatooine.

I just saw it. Keep an eye out for Matt Patriciaโs meaty role as a Resistance pilot.
