the amount of scenes that are good or memorable, is about equal in both. So I would say, it's too close to call...which trilogy is actually better.
It's hard to say which trilogy is better, I say, would you not agree?

I don't think it's a contest as far as acting, directing and screenwriting (dialogue specifically) goes.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 6.5/10 Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones 6/10 Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith 7.5/10 The Prequel Trilogy-6.6/10
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens 7/10 Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi 4/10 Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker- 7.5/10 The Sequel Trilogy-6.1/10
So i think the prequel trilogy is 0.5 points better than the sequel trilogy overall.

That is not even a question, especially after the trash-compactor fire of TROS: - The prequels had unique storytelling, substance (fall of democracy and corruption of heroes), art design (ships, architecture, costumes), world building (Sith, Republic), music (Williams at his best!) and the brilliant villains win in the end. And a LOT of quotable lines and memes. This is unique in blockbuster history. Authorship incarnate! - The sequels had what again? They were as unoriginal as they were unimaginative. Badly rehashed storylines from the OT, repainted art design from the OT, fanfic level writing (including ample Mary Sue writing) full of plot holes and lore & canon violations ruining and rebooting what came before. Not to forget the relentless juvenile Marvel humor (Yo mamma jokes, droid please!) In the end, the sequels are regurgitated cinematic junk food for the dumb masses, while the prequels are acquired tastes of artistic design and authorship. Moreover, IMO the sequels killed the integrity of Star Wars and left an infamously huge turd on it's grave. This is why they must be DE-CANONIZED urgently in your head and officially (I am not talking about Rouge 1 or Mandalorian).

Without having seen TRoS, which I have little desire to watch at this point, I'd have to go with the prequels. At least Lucas had the balls to stick to his guns without compromising his narrative for whiny nerds. Attack of the Clones didn't tell us midichlorians were made up. Darth Maul wasn't brought back from the dead because they couldn't come up with a cooler replacement. Count Dooku didn't redeem himself because all Jedi turned Sith must redeem themselves. General Grievous wasnt Anakin's second cousin because everybody is related.
The prequels are ambitious misfires. The ST are one ambitious guy who can't get up because he's sandwiched between two lazy fat fuckers.

The cohesion and overarching story premise/scope/ideas are way better in the prequels (I'd even say the prequels rival the OT in that sense), but it's the execution that destroys most of the potential the prequels had. I genuinely think the prequels are perhaps the biggest case of 'wasted potential' in blockbuster history, the premise and vision Lucas had for the story was incredible, but the writing and directing is just so painful. The concept of this huge republic crumbling and the slow crumbling of democracy in an almost revolution kinda way, there's just so much room for incredible fantasy/sci-fi based Greek tragedy with social commentary there. What a shame.
Anyways, while the story is significantly safer and generic in the sequel trilogy, they're just so much better executed, directed, written, everything. I think I can sum it up as 'the prequels are better than the sum of their parts, the sequels are worse than the sum of their parts'. The sequels don't really feel like a trilogy, but as 3 separate movies and therefore don't have the same positive feedback loop as the prequels in terms of being one cohesive unit. However, I'll still easily give it to the sequel trilogy, just because of how much better they are directed (also because recently I've really gotten into the behind the scenes impact of directing and writing on the final product). Highly controversial opinion coming through, but I think TLJ is easily the best movie of the 2 mentioned trilogies and probably even my 3rd favorite Star Wars movie. I also think TFA is great. A bit bland and generic, yes. But the kinetic directing and editing is just so amazing and entertaining to watch. It wasn't done in any Star Wars movie before and it also hasn't been done (successfully) since. TROS was okay. Easily the most fan-fiction esque of the trilogy, kinda ridiculous at points and badly paced. But it was still entertaining for the most parts. The prequels on the other hand have 1 really bad movie (AOTC), 1 kinda bad movie (TPM) and one very campy but surprisingly good and fun movie (ROTS). So yeah, it's a pretty easy choice for me.

The prequels have a more coherent story despite the acting, dialogue and visual effects being much worse. Judging the the two trilogies as a whole, the prequel trilogy is better IMO.

On average, I enjoyed most of the ST better than the prequels. But to their credit, the prequels did have a complete story and the ending didn’t seem compromised to satisfy the Internet.

It's kind of like debating the merits of the Ford Pinto and the AMC Pacer. They both could potentially get you to point B from point A but did anyone really love them?

Me personally, the new trilogy. I thought Hayden Christensen sucked. I mean really sucked. The kid was fine in Phantom Menace but Hayden Christensen (at least for me) somehow managed to sap the fun out of knowing I was looking at the future Darth Vader.

The prequels remain richer sensory enjoyment in comparison, even if some of the dialogue is mediocre.
The opening of TFA harkened so much promise... then they took Kylo Ren's mask off & the whole thing went emo. I'm not even hating on Disney because Rogue One is f'n awesome.
I do think for me, they'll forever be 3 separate trilogies, tied loosely together in DNA only.

I will say one thing , as if everyone didn't already notice but: did you notice... Main two characters of the prequel tril. and original tril. took damage. What a...
what damage did rey take if at all? Where Anakin and luke both got limbs chopped off(well one of them) as well as other body parts. At the most Rey gets held up by snoke for a few minutes that's it.
Goes back to what I was saying in another thread, which is The force awakens is not a good example of 'how to write a lady.'

It's kind of hard to say at the moment. There are areas in which the prequels are better and areas in which the sequel trilogy films are better.

When it comes to All 3 Trilogies, I will just sum up my feelings about them all just like this below.
THE PREQUEL TRILOGY
The Phantom Menace - 5/10
Attack of The Clones - 4/10
Revenge of The Sith - 9/10
THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY
A New Hope - 10/10
The Empire Strikes Back - 10/10
Return of The Jedi - 10/10
THE SEQUEL TRILOGY
The Force Awakens - 10/10
The Last Jedi - 7/10
The Rise of Skywalker - 10/10 ----------------------------------------
That being said, I actually still like the Sequel/New Trilogy a lot more than the others (1 disappointing movie in a Trilogy isn't going to affect my own overall feelings about it).
