I'm only comfortably okay at all times with my 5 iron, putter, 8 iron, & driver at 70% throttle.
Those usually get me through most holes without feeling a wasted session.
re. my driving, there's no real magic bullet - on the range it's repeated swings to find some muscle memory, but actually playing I might use it only 10 times or so, which keeps it colder... so I've gotta back off lest I bring a chainsaw in my bag.

Do pros still use hybrids over long irons/woods? I find the hybrid unnecessary.

Usually I sting/punch them out with a 4 or 5 iron. I don't want too much on it lest I end up in the jungle.
