Defense is still shite. Lazette has the touch of an elephant...a half-pissed elephant. Ozil has some good ideas but no one on his wavelength to play with.

Definitely positives I thought. Mainly the team played as a unit, moving up and down the field as one. This was severely lacking under Emery where the defense, midfield and forwards always looked like three very disjointed units. This I feel put so much pressure of central midfield that whoever played there always looked a few yards behind the pace, going forward and backwards, which also lead to the defense being constantly exposed. There was enough already there today to suggest that the current team can improve under Arteta. As for Laca, he's far better than we saw today. He'll improve greatly once the confidence, which evaporated under Emery, comes back. Also I thought Pepe looked up for it and his energy rubbed off on the team, but refs have to protect him a bit better. That's the second game in a row where he has been scissored down by an opponent. He'll end up with a bad cruciate injury if that's allowed to continue.
It's gonna be a tough start for Arteta though with Chelsea and Utd to come over the holidays. I wont really start judging him until after ten games or so. Pity the board didn't act a bit sooner and give him the games Freddy had to tackle.
