Now that the 2010's are coming to an end, this would be a good time to look back on all that has happened in your life from 2010-2019.
What have been the highlights/lowlights of your life for the 2010's?
How is your life now compared to how your life was at the end of 2009?
What do you have to look forward to in your life for 2020 and perhaps beyond?

My life is pretty much the same as it was ten years ago.
The highlights of my decade would be some of the trips I took: the Disney parks in Florida, my 50th birthday in Hiroshima of all places (fitting, considering the way I felt about turning 50), Easter Island...

What have been the highlights/lowlights of your life for the 2010's?
For me, this decade was far more cringe-worthy, worse, and forgettable than the last one. I also feel like it was the most driest, emptiest, unfulfilling period of my life. There were plenty more lowlights than highlights in my life. The only few highlights I had from this decade were my 30th bday, college graduation, those pop up museums in Miami, and the Disney trip. That's about it.
How is your life now compared to how your life was at the end of 2009?
Not much different, tbh. It was sh!tty then and it's sh!tty now.
What do you have to look forward to in your life for 2020 and perhaps beyond?
As I get older, I really came to the point in my life that I really don't care what happens in the future. I am far more focused on the present and taking it one step at a time. High expectations lead to disappointments.

What do you have to look forward to in your life for 2020 and perhaps beyond? The key changes are: 1. Moved from Europe to the US 2. Left the legal profession for stand up and filmmaking 3. Got married in 2009 I was a lawyer who had a good steady job in the legal world but craved doing something creative and dreamt about being an entertainer/ filmmaker. to this day I remember my first session with a career coach, when i told her I wanted to quit law to do comedy and make films and that I know its crazy but I sometimes dream about it. It really did feel crazy. But I am So Happy I did what I did. It took several years to make the decision but it was a good one. There were both ups and downs of course, some things I did didnt work out the way I wanted them to, but some worked out better. The main lesson for me really is that life is what you make of it. So I am looking forward to what the next decade brings. In 2020 I am looking forward to directing a new show and going to festivals with it. And also spending more time with my parents but my main goal is to focus more on my health now. Like i am not doing that already, right Salzmank ? :-)

Nora, perhaps you can take inspiration from the fact many famous composers (such a Tchaikovsky) were either lawyers or at least studied law in school before becoming composers.

My health's deteriorated somewhat, but nowhere near as badly as for some people, still, same with people I know. It's been heat all year round, don't recall anything like it.
Otherwise, usual challenges, kept head above water, though nothing saved and little to contribute. Living standards same as usual, so nothing new there.

Nothing to high or low. Kind of a transitional bridge of a decade I guess. I learned a capacity to handle more work hours. A nice ageing trait is no longer lamenting free time for sitting around doing nothing or having to meet up with friends who are themselves knee deep in reality &/or family raising mode. I could see myself ploughing through more work hours with less demanding work - for easier hustle income, for these 2020's. I've learned to work smarter, not harder.
Being in my 40's, any anxieties of societal myth pressures about personal priorities are nearly all gone. Trust me, getting older isn't necessarily more fun, but it's not as mentally taxing either.

What have been the highlights/lowlights of your life for the 2010's?
The last 10 yeas went by so fast, I can't even remember what I've been doing this whole time. There must've been some highlights but nothing truly spectacular that would stand out. Lowlights were probably the countless hours I spent accompanying/visiting elderly relatives at the hospital or at the doctor's. my father's health has constantly deteriorated in recent years and he's in need of constant medication.
How is your life now compared to how your life was at the end of 2009?
Nothing much has changed. Sometimes I fel like I'm trapped in one of those time-loops where each day is the same. I'm trying to enjoy the small things in life, I'm trying to live in the moment, because it's just not worth worrying about the larger issues.
What do you have to look forward to in your life for 2020 and perhaps beyond?
I'm planning to leave my country and move abroad beacuse the quality of living has really plunged to an all-time low and I fear it's going to get a lot worse. Higher taxes, higher energy prices, more criminality. I believe Germany or for that matter Western Europe is doomed, I'm going to leave the sinking ship before it's too late.

2010-2019 was the most STABLE decade of my life. But not the most productive or exciting. So, not bad, at all, just not amazing.

What have been the highlights/lowlights of your life for the 2010's?
That's the decade in which I began to see relatives die. I lost my 2 grandfathers, two uncles and some family friends too. I went to the same cemetery 4 straight years. It wasn't that it was too hard to handle but somehow it made me realize that nobody is getting younger, especially since I got asked by pretty much all uncles and aunts (on top of my parents) if it was Ok with me to be named second or third executor.
At the same time, some relatives also got children so the circle of life is still going.
It's also the point that made me realize how the school system (in Quebec) sucks. It's crippled with so many conflicts of interests (talking within the school not at the government level) on top of the really dishonest and con man approach of the mission those schools have. Some teachers and some other school employees do care but the top brass truly doesn't give a shit about anything but their paycheck.
How is your life now compared to how your life was at the end of 2009?
I wouldn't say better or worse globally. I solved the biggest issues in my life prior to that.
What do you have to look forward to in your life for 2020 and perhaps beyond?
Not much in 2020 but overtime, consolidating my retirement plans and buying a house.

Retired the middle of 2010. My Lovely Wife and I moved from Texas to Colorado late in 2011 Got a new cat from the shelter in 2012. Named her Asta. Bought our first RV a year later. I swore I would never do "senior" things, but traveling with pets and eating restaurant food can be expensive, inconvenient and fattening. Moved four hours south to New Mexico the middle of 2015. We are there to this day. In 2019 two of our very elderly cats died so adopted another shelter cat. Asta and Bandito are now both seasoned RV travelers all over the U.S (but mostly west). For the last (almost) two years I have been binging on film noir and B-crime films of the '30s, '40s, and '50s and posting my reviews on the Classic Film Board weekly thread. I'm thinking about collecting my reviews into a book that would sell for $4.98. Would make a great Christmas gag gift. Look for it soon at your local liquor store. RVing with pets is fun and easy
