I love every time a tattoo user complains about not getting jobs because of his/her tattoos. What giant morons!
Is that still a thing? I mean, unless you have them on your face? Of course it's still a thing.
If the tattoos are covered and they don't discover they don't care but if they discover you have tattoos or you have visible tattoos then in respectable and important jobs they will scrap you.

I disagree. Both counts brah. I don't.
And so many people have them that they are actually mainstream. And I must admit that I lack the understanding for how people can ruin their healthy, even skin.
Some people get them to cover bad skin and no one has perfect even skin. Everyone has a mole and most of us have birth marks. More importantly I doubt anyone with a tattoo thinks they’re ruining anything unless the tat is messed up.

Furthermore, a tattoo means a chronic inflammation on your skin.
My best friend worked at the local general hospital and she always had stories about people who had trouble with their tattoos.
If they don't think they are ruining anything, they are simply being ignorant.

They look trashy on people who are trashy. They look trendy on people who are trendy. I'm not a fan of 'trashy' or 'trendy' and I don't care for tattoos myself but to each his own.

Some tattoos are tasteful, some are just fine, and some are gross and or you question the mental state of the person who has them. So your poll is too limited for me to check a position I can agree on.

Is that still a thing? I mean, unless you have them on your face? Not so much any more as full employment and changing times means that employers can't be so choosy. Most UK police forces for example are now okay with them as long as they are not neck or face or hands.

Most respectable jobs simply do not accept visible or ugly tattoos at all.

I don’t really understand this recent tattoo craze. They are painful and expensive to have, yet under a certain age everybody I meet seems to have tattoos. There was a time when it was only seamen or Japanese Yakuza, than all soccer players had them and today everybody does. I’m thinking it’s just a trend and it’s going to disappear. It’s like earrings. In the 90’s all dudes seem to wear them, today it’s not that common anymore. I really appreciate it, when I see a beautiful woman who is not tattooed. I wore an earring in college, lol. Man I must’ve looked like a twat but chicks dug it in the late 90’s and early 00’s. It was great dressing up like a pirate for Halloween and using a genuinely large earring for it. I took it out years and years ago and it healed over. Now I wouldn’t be caught dead with one.

I have loads of tattoos.
I don't like all tattoos though. Just like I don't like all sculptures or all oil paintings.
Saying 'I don't like all tattoos' seems as strange as saying 'I don't like all oil paintings'. You don't like a medium of art? Sucks to be you I guess.
Also, most people who say 'I don't like tattoos' don't have any.
They know they wouldn't like it in the same way that children know they won't like a food they've never tried before. "I have zero lived experience with that but I will denounce it anyway.'

No one cares what you think about tattoos. Yet you replied to his post which means you read it and cared enough to rebuke him.

At a job in America, I knew a manager who had one tattoo on his right outside forearm that was the most glorious one I’ve ever seen.
It was all dark green and looked like a forest or something.
He wore elbow length shirts every single day even in the winter so that it would always show.
If tattoos can vary in price ranges much, I’d guess that it was in the most expensive category that exists.
He had been in the Navy so I guessed it would have been done overseas somewhere.
I’ll never be a fan of tattoos but this one was gorgeous.

Of course not. I mean anyone can get a bad tattoo, but anyone could also wear trashy clothes. It's the personality that makes the person. Tattoos are accessories.
It's kind of a shame tattoos are considered unprofessional. Plenty of people have them. People you might not even suspect because they're on a less visible body part, or you don't see them because of their uniform, which by the way could be a nurse's outfit, police outfit, you get the idea.
If you know how to perform open heart surgery, what does it matter if you have a tattoo? Or 3, or a dozen? It's just such an old fashioned stereotype that people with tattoos are from the wrong side of the tracks. Ne'er do wells and no goodniks.

It’s not up to me to figure out what other people’s tattoos mean. If you ask them they’ll usually explain. Me? I just like butterflies so I’ve got two of them. I really don’t understand how people are so judgmental over something that really shouldn’t concern them at all.

This thread is still going on? The topic/thread usually resurfaces about once/year but is essentially just a repeat of the last time. The poll results are surprisingly even and probably reflect generational differences. An interesting variation would include like/hate/don't care along with age brackets (0-30, 30-50, 50+ or so).
