Somewhere (2010) - 6 above average, but did I miss something?
Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2011) - 7 doco - fascinating history, no question
Melancholia (2011) - 8 my #1 of the decade
Before Midnight (2013) - 5 whatever - if you like Linklater's talky 'meaning of life' movies.
Phoenix (2014) - 6 good German woman's film re post-holocaust. Nina Hoss is ace.
John Wick (2014) - 4 tedious
Selma (2014) - 6 solid Martin Luther King biopic, if not particularly memorable.
Moonlight (2016) - 6 appreciated it, but didn't go for it.
The Lost City of Z (2017) - 6 good adventure drama / period biopic re. Amazon exploration.
Roma (2018) - not seen

I disagree with that list. How so? I don`t think those are the 10 best movies of the decade..........I thought that was obvious.

I don`t think those are the 10 best movies of the decade..........I thought that was obvious. Well, someone could've said that and meant "I don't think certain movies are among the best of the decade, but others are."

John Wick as one of the best movies of the whole decade? Seems like they wanted a popular movie to make their list less pretentious. Selma sucked. That guy is no MLK.

Seems like they wanted a popular movie to make their list less pretentious. If that was a concern, wouldn't they have chosen mostly or even only popular movies?

Seems like they wanted a popular movie to make their list less pretentious. If that was a concern, wouldn't they have chosen mostly or even only popular movies? Then the list would be too mainstream. They want their arthouse street cred, but don't want to be too obvious so they threw in John Wick.

Yeah, questioning why John Wick would make a top 10 of the decade list, let alone one with Somewhere and Melancholia on it, is just like moon landing conspiracies. You're right.

You're not questioning it. You're claiming there's an agenda. An implausibly meticulous agenda. And you talk like you read the voters' minds.

I said " Seems like they wanted a popular movie to make their list less pretentious". As for the implausible meticulousness, I've been on the internet longer than 5 minutes and I've seen and heard people throw movies onto their list to diversify it. I'd be asking the same question if someone had a list of 9 superhero blockbusters, followed by "Son of Saul" or something.
