Probably one of Martin Scorsese's least talked-about films Any of you ever seen it? Maltin Movie Guide Review: Kundun - 3 out of 4 stars"The fascinating saga of the 14th Dalai Lama begins with the discovery that he has been reincarnated in the body of a two-year old boy. We follow his journey through life, including education, exile, and confrontation with the Chinese government, led by Mao Tse-Tung. Search in vain for a Scorsese "edge"--this is just good, solid storytelling, from Melissa Mathison's script (written with the Dalai Lama's cooperation). A cast of nonprofessional actors is simply remarkable, and so is Philip Glass' score."

Yes , I saw it just recently , ck100 . It's the personal story of the Dalai Lama , and the invasion of Tibet by the Chinese Communists . But it's more of a biopic . The cinematography is good , and the acting is good too . It's interesting !
Seven Years in Tibet is also worth considering too , which is more of an true adventure story in the same period as Kundun .

The movie reminds me of this scene from "The Sopranos".:

Î liked 7 Years in Tibet (based on the H Harrer book) better as a film, but this is the more serious, in depth approach to the Tibet life and the Chinese invasion.

Yep, saw it theatrically. Well before I was much versed in Scorsese.
It has sneaky re-watchability, with its serene audio & visuals.
I do wish Marty had tried more of this worldly storytelling than his fascination with America.

Fantastic on a technical level and an interesting look at the life of the Dalai-Lama. Beautiful and meditative.
Roger Deakins and Phillip Glass were rightly nominated for Oscars for Kundun.
7.5/10
