The best movies were chosen by different writers from the site (for some reason, only one of them was posted in video form, and for some reason that's also the only one of the three where the movies are ranked insted of listed alphabetically), while the worst movies were chosen by public voting (they're also ranked and their descriptions have spoilers).
The problem here is the same as Rotten Tomatoes' audience score, IMDB, etc... People can cast votes for the wrong reasons. I mean, based on the box office results, we know that not that many people saw it... and yet it receives an overwhelming majority of votes? You could argue that people vote not based on what they've seen but what they've read/heard. If that was the case, why vote for a movie with mixed-to-positive critical reception as the #1 worst movie? It's clearly backlash because of the directors' comments.

Yeah, I say the hell with people being influenced based on what they are told is good and what's not (and the like) vs forming their own opinion as I kind of suspect something like Citizen Kane (1941) is one of those movies people always seem to kiss up to (because the critics etc claim it's great more than it actually being all that great for the common person or thereabouts) but I suspect many don't like it as much as they claim to for fear of being dissed if they dis it etc. because I could not care any less if a movie is ahead of it's time or breaks new ground etc if it fails to interest the viewer to a higher degree. because while it's fine to recognize say history of movies etc, and give credit there, there is no way in hell that's going to play a factor in my overall score for a movie which is based on my interest in it.
because as as a general rule one should always give a honest opinion of a movie based on how much one personally likes or dislike a movie. rating any other way makes no sense to me since it's not a true representation of ones personal opinion of a movie. but I always rate honestly regardless if I feel a movie is overrated or underrated etc as those people who inflate a movies score in a attempt to boost it (or those who rate it lower in a attempt to lower a movies score), are not being honest.
p.s. I have seen 25 movies released in 2019 and only three managed to be below average or lower (i.e. 4/10 at best)... Annabelle Comes Home(2/10)/Knives Out(2/10)/Child's Play(3/10). Knives out is my #1 worst movie of the year given the fact I made it further into Annabelle Comes Home before turning it off.

They also made a "best movie of the year" poll, but for fun, i.e. they're not the site's official picks. Once again, there's an unexpected winner with an incredible majority of votes.
