I know many hate it but I love it. It has flaws but it’s strengths outweigh the negatives and I think it’s a very enjoyable and intelligent film.
That’s what I’m putting in my decade top ten list 👏🏻

I like it and Covenant. I really wish Ridley Scott would complete the trilogy.

I like it and Covenant. I really wish Ridley Scott would complete the trilogy. I like Covenant as well and it had some of the best characters that have been in the entire franchise IMO. Unfortunately it didn’t do great business so I’m not sure about a third film but it could be excellent. It has great potential. Mind you with Covenant I hope that it’s explained in any future installment that those aliens who were genocided by David were not Engineers. It seems they were more like another species derived from the Engineers. The Engineer home planet should be much more sophisticated than that I would have thought.

Prometheus has a strong first half, but then everything goes to shit. Scott has cut out a lot of good scenes to keep the 2-hour length and the movie suffers for it. I like Covenant better, because it has a tighter story and I never liked Shaw (I choose to believe!) to begin with, so good riddance. David makes an excellent antagonist.

It's not a perfect film, but at least it's a rare modern big-budget sci-film with some ambition and themes behind it.

Was Prometheus the film that jump-started the big budget sci-fi film genre?

I liked it as a stand alone film but not so much as a prequel (of sorts) to Alien.

it's a dumb-as-shit mess but I liked it enough to be curious where it leads.
The second one was too much of a Alien rehash and had too little Prometheus elements in it. Still liked it on some level and was curious where it leads.
It seems nowhere now. Bummer.

I rather actively disliked it myself. The plot didn't make much sense and it tried too hard to serve as a prequel to Alien, only serving in the end to diminish the mystery and aura of the 1979 film. I absolutely detested how the Space Jockeys were depicted. The only thing that did appeal to me was the look of the film.

It's the second best Aliens film after the original, Alien.

I liked it a lot, bought the dvd, and don't always enjoy the work of Ridley Scott,
With all the negative criticisms, I think it's high time I watched it again.

That alien snake scene is unforgivable. Brings the whole film down.

I think asking a couple of intelligent questions in the first half that it forgets about in the second doesn't make it an intelligent film. In fact, I think the movie is pretty nonsensical and stupid.
But David is a great character and should have been the lead. That's one thing I'll give Covenant - it's more or less David's movie.

You prefer sanfrancisco or Arizona?... I've never been to San Francisco and have only passed through Arizona. I'd say San Fran seems more interesting, but also scarier with the prospect of a massive earthquake at any moment.

I'm glad to see all the posters here who like it. Given the amount of hate I've seen for it, I was starting to think I was among only a few who enjoyed it.
